WhileSteam’s Summer Sale still tends to command the most attention every year, the other seasonal sale events are no slouches, and there are plenty of great deals to find in the 2025 Spring Sale event. Some of the best discounts fall under Steam’s Featured Deep Discounts category, which slashes prices on a small selection of significant titles, but others could require a bit more searching.
While personal preference can be a big determining factor in what stands out most from a sale, there’s still a fair number of games that are easy to recommend as strong buys for almost anyone. From pulse-pounding FPS experiences to rich strategic titles and everything in between, it’s definitely worth checking out the most striking discounts that the Steam Spring Sale has to offer.

10Sid Meier’s Civilization 6 Is Strategy Excellence
$5.99, 80% Off
Sid Meier’sCivilization 7has a lot of strengths, but its release has been contentious, and there’s no ignoring how daunting the $69.99 price point can be. For a much cheaper alternative,Civilization 6is currently on sale for 90% off, although its many DLCs haven’t received the same love. Another great option — and the one that’s much closer to my heart — is the 80% offCiv 4: The Complete Edition, which comes out to the same $5.99 price point.
Civ 7 Is Promising More UI Updates, So Here’s Everything It Still Needs To Fix
Civilization 7’s UI is arguably the reason for its rocky launch and mixed reception, and despite a recent update, it still has a lot to fix.
Either way,it’s hard to go wrong with anyCivgame, all of which deliver approachable strategy experiences that quickly become addicting. Unlike other games that stand out in the sale,Civ 6got an even steeper discount in the 2024 Summer Sale, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for it to hit 95% off again any time soon.

9A Way Out Has Excellent Co-Op For Cheap
$4.49 (85% Off)
Co-op pioneer Hazelight Studios has justlanded another hit withSplit Fiction, but the studio’s previous titles are more affordable alternatives as starting points. The Steam Spring Sale 2025 dropsIt Takes Twoto $11.99 with a 70% discount, butA Way Outundercuts it significantly with a $4.49 priceand 85% discount.
A Way Outtasks players with working together in a prison escape, and although its runtime and ambition aren’t as impressive asIt Takes TwoandSplit Fiction, it can still be a great experience.A six- or seven-hour runtime is nothing to sneeze at when it’s packed full of surprises, and it also makes the prospect of actually finishing it with a friend more likely.

$5.99 (70% Off)
If most deep discounts in the Steam Sale simply seem too normal,Cruelty Squadis the obvious answer. Its style is just as over-the-top as its name, embracing a world of violently vivid colors and bizarre applications of geometry and textures that somehow feel just as intentional as they do unfinished. It might give you a headache, but it might also become a new favorite.
On a basic level,CrueltySquadis a fast-paced tactical FPS, but it alsoincorporates immersive sim elementsand plenty of interesting details in its unusual world. Whether attempting to clear areas in record time or exploring its oddest secrets,Cruelty Squadbegs to be poked and prodded at in the best kinds of ways. The Steam Spring Sale has it at a new all-time low price, so although some discounts in the sale are even steeper, it’s certainly not one to ignore.

7Chrono Trigger Remains Legendary 30 Years Later
$3.74 (75% Off)
Chrono Triggeris currentlycelebrating its 30th anniversary, and the passing of three decades certainly hasn’t done anything to diminish its legacy. Made by a superstar collaboration of creative forces behindFinal FantasyandDragon Quest,Chrono Triggerstands the test of time as one of the greatest RPGs ever made. An interesting time-travel story is bolstered by an unusually thoughtful approach to enemy encounters and a wonderful soundtrack, making it easy to stay engaged throughout the experience.
JRPGs To Try If FF7 Remake Was Your First
Final Fantasy 7 Remake might make players want to try more JRPGs, but there are so many that deciding which one to play next can be overwhelming.
Chrono Triggeris also on a steeper Steam discount than past sales, dropping to $3.74 instead of the usual $7.50. While the Steam port can unfortunately have some crashes, it’s fixed its worse issues over the years, like making an upscale setting that smudges the beautiful pixel art optional rather than mandatory. If you can play it on DS or SNES, so much the better, but the Steam version is a much more affordable option.
6Half-Life: Alyx (& Other Half-Life Games) Shouldn’t Be Missed
$17.99 (70% Off)
Half-Life Alyxhas a more limited audience than other top Steam Sale options, asit’s only for those with VR headsets, but it’s arguably the defining title to make use of the tech. It’s also at its steepest discount yet, edging out past 66% discount peaks with a 70% drop to $17.99.Alyxreturns to a fascinating world sci-fi world where scientific research has gone very wrong, and for now, it’s the closest thing we’ve got to aHalf-Life 3.
If you don’t have a VR headset or remain reluctant to invest,otherHalf-Lifegames are on typically steep sales. The originalHalf-Lifeis certainly worth its current $1.99 asking price, and a discount onThe Orange Box, which includesHalf-Life 2and its episodes alongsidePortal 2, bundles a couple of thebest games of all timetogether.
5Hitman: Blood Money Brings Some Peak Stealth Action
$0.99, 90% Off
BuyingHitman: World of Assassination, which collects the most recent three games into one package, can be a surprisingly confusing prospect thanks to several different editions, episodes, DLC, and more. In this particular sale, it’s also not especially cheap. What’s both simple and affordable, however, isHitman: Blood Money, the2006 entry that remains as great as ever today.
At 90% off,Blood Moneyis only 99 cents in the Steam Spring Sale, which is nothing compared to the entertainment value it provides. Soaked in the seediness of a cynical riff on mid-2000s America,Blood Moneyoffers a near-endless variety of creative stealth opportunities that other franchises still struggle to match almost two decades later.
4Undertale Is A Game-Changing RPG For Under A Dollar
$0.99 (90% Off)
Breakout indie successes aren’t uncommon, but rarely does something have an impact comparable toUndertale. As an unusual RPG that hearkens back to oddball “anti-RPG"s likeEarthboundandMoon: Remix RPG Adventure,Undertaletakes delight in subverting expectations as often as it can. With a mysterious atmosphere, fascinating, funny characters, and a memorable battle system, it’s no surprise that it took off immediately.
At a sale price slightly under a dollar, it might be the safest purchase in the entire Steam sale, even if the amount saved in dollars isn’t as significant as a game getting 90% discount slashed from a higher price. For those who already loveUndertale, other discounted games likeOneShotcould be good options, and evensome free titles likeYume Nikkiare absolutely worth checking out.
3Battlefield 1 Stands Tall In The FPS Franchise
TheBattlefieldgames are starting to seem like staples of Steam’s Featured Deep Discounts section, but that doesn’t mean that a great one should be ignored. While everyone has their favorites,it’s not uncommon to considerBattlefield 1the last great entryin the franchise, and it still has an appropriately active fanbase to back up that opinion.
Battlefield 6 Gameplay Leaks Are Already Fixing My Biggest Battlefield 2042 Complaints
Playtest footage from the next Battlefield has leaked, and even this limited glimpse has me optimistic it’ll turn out better than Battlefield 2042.
At only $1.99, there’s no reason to missBattlefield 1. The real question is whether to pick it or some of the other franchise options, even though it’s the only one that shows up in the Featured Deep Discounts section.Battlefield 3 Premium EditionandBattlefield 4are available for the same low price, so they might be better choices for those who prefer more modern settings.
2Pathfinder: Wrath Of The Righteous Is A Robust RPG
$3.99 (90% Off)
Finding a game to follow upBaldur’s Gate 3can be a nearly impossible task, butPathfinder: Wrath of the Righteouscould have the best chance of scratching the same itch. As anotherambitious modern isometric RPG based on a fantasy tabletop game(one thathas its roots inD&D3.5e, no less),Wrath of the Righteousdelivers a huge experience full of interesting choices, characters, and challenges.
For those who haven’t yet playedBaldur’s Gate 3,Wrath of the Righteouscould also be a good way to avoid that significant financial investment. At 90% off, thePathfinderalternative is certainly easier on the wallet. The learning curve is more intense, however, with more complex character builds and plenty of tough encounters.
1DOOM 2016 Is A Modern FPS Classic
$1.99 (90% Off)
It might not be surprising to see the originalDOOMgames for a few dollars in a Steam sale, but a massive discount onDOOM2016 is more impressive. The franchise reboot modernized the gameplay and graphics without sacrificing the fast-paced actionand bloody shock value of the classic titles, setting the stage for the similarly acclaimedDOOM EternalandupcomingDOOM: The Dark Ages.
DOOM: The Dark Ages Might Be The Perfect Solution To The Franchise’s Greatest Weakness
While the DOOM franchise has expanded on its its arsenal of weapons over the years, there’s one combat area that’s always been surprisingly lacking.
At a 90% discount, even skeptics might want to giveDOOMa try, although it might not be worth exploring if you’re particularly squeamish.DOOMisn’t the only game under Bethesda’s publisher umbrella to receive a great discount in theSteamSpring Sale — picking up theDishonoredgames or aFallouttitle is also an easy recommendation — but it might be the most impressive deal.
