Satou Kazuma and Misumi Makoto don’t have a lot in common on the surface. Makoto is incredibly overpowered, while Kazuma has died several times within his own series. Still, they’ve both found a place for themselves within their new worlds. They rely on the characters around them when they’re not too sure of what’s going on, andthey’re both much better for it.

Driftersisan unhinged isekai series, to say the least. It’s by the same creator ofHellsing Ulitmateand his style can be found throughout both series.Driftersis a series that features the titular Drifters as they find their way to a new world and a new war. Each of the Drifters is a warrior from a different time period, creating a unique blend of characters not found in other anime. They fight together voraciously, taking down their enemies in great, graphic violence.

Each of hisdeaths are increasingly brutal, but even death itself isn’t enough to keep Subaru down. He’s a light hearted character in a world filled with downers, and his always positive attitude is a great reason to watch the series.
It might not seem like it, butRe:Zerohas plenty of funny moments. Subaru is always willing to have a laugh, even at his own expense, creating a fun and lighthearted environment for everyone. She finds Seiya Ryuuguuin, a hero with incredible stats, and summons him to help her. Unfortunately for the Goddess,the hero is cautious to a fault.
It’s a similar dynamic to Kazuma and Aqua’s inKonoSuba,as Aqua probably found the worst person for the job in Kazuma. Both series have great dynamics between the Goddess and the ‘heroes’ they summoned to their new world. The writing is both shows is funny, the animation is solid, and the story gets more and more interesting and either series progresses.
That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slimeisanother solid isekai series.Rimuru Tempest was transported to a new world as a lowly slime without any real abilities. After some time, he grows to become one of the strongest characters in his series, creating tons of new technology for his nation of Tempest. He’s a thoughtful leader, a strategic fighter, and a benefactor of the world. While he and Kazuma don’t share too many similarities in terms of their characters, their series have a lot of the same themes.

Both shows are lighthearted.They never take themselves too seriously, except when one of Rimuru’s friends is hurt. Other than the occasional destruction of an entire army, Rimuru is a chill, laid-back leader who only wants the best for his troops and his people. Kazuma could learn a lot from how responsible the Great Leader of Tempest really is.

While Kazuma relies on his companions a little more than Shadow does, they both have great side characters willing to support them through thick and thin.
