The Batmanis one of my favorite comic book movies, and I am patiently waiting forThe Batman: Part II, despite the announcement of its latest delay. Matt Reeves' take on the iconicDChero proved to be successful and 2027 will see the return ofRobert Pattinson inThe Batman: Part II, one of my most anticipated films in years. When the trilogy is complete, it could just go down as one of the best superhero stories to ever grace the silver screen.
AlongsideThe Batman, HBO’sThe Penguinhas continued to build my hype for the upcoming film. The Penguinis very good television, carving out Gotham’s underworld in new ways and retroactively makingThe Batmaneven stronger. With great movies and television, usually comes great memes, and these projects are no exception. Here are some of my favorite memes that make me incredibly excited aboutThe Batman: Part II.

10Bruce Wayne’s Secret Identity Gets Help From Alfred
There is no doubt Robert Pattinson is a handsome man, andThe Batmanplayed with that idea in interesting ways, craftingthe grungiest looking Bruce Wayne to ever appear in live action. In doing that, Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne didn’t care in the slightest about keeping up with appearances in Gotham, having to be coaxed by Alfred into looking at least presentable when he goes to the funeral for Mayor Mitchell.
The Batman - Part II Has 3 Perfect Villains Set Up But Only One Can Actually Appear
An update has revealed that two of the best possible villains for The Batman - Part II are unlikely to show up, though a third major foe may rise.
The Batman: Part IIshould look to develop Bruce Wayne’s billionaire persona at least a little bit and to do that, Bruce will have to dress the part. The idea of Alfred helping to style Bruce is amusing and gets me excited to see how Robert Pattinson portrays that side of the character in the sequel and beyond.

9The Batman Trilogy Dreams Gets Even More Hype
It’s true. Matt Reeves' trilogy got off to a very good start withThe Batman, possibly the best start it could have hoped to have had.The Batman: Part IIlooks to continue that momentum, hopefully building out Gotham in new and exciting ways. If Reeves nails the sequel, there is no reason to believe he wouldn’t also strike gold withThe Batman: Part III.
Like I said before,The Batmantrilogy has the chance to become one of the greatest superhero trilogies of all time and could lead to world peace where the oceans are beautiful and abundant and dolphins leap through the air. Honestly,if Matt Reeves nails all three movies in the trilogy, it could truly be something special.

8Even The Batman Is Loving The Spin-Off
This one especially hits home because of how relatable it is.I anticipate seeing what Oz, Sofia, and Vic will get themselves into every Sunday and when the show ends, I am not sure what I will do with my Sunday nights. The Penguinhas exceeded all of my expectations, and it will be great to see how it is able to tie intoThe Batman: Part II, connecting threads to tell this epic crime story.
RewatchingThe Batmanafter seeingThe Penguingives scenes with Oz even more depth, knowing much more about the character now than ever before. Colin Farrell already did an amazing job in his first appearance, butThe Penguinbrought him into the conversation of best comic book villain portrayals of all time.

7Make Every Movie In The Batman Universe A Different Holiday
One of my favorite parts aboutThe Batmanis how it is the perfect film to watch around Halloween, given that it starts off on that holiday, adding even more atmosphere to the movie. I actually love seeing superhero stories revolving around the holidays, and then proceeding to watch said movies during whatever holiday season it takes place in.The Batman: Part IIcould, and should, try to do that as well.
DC’s Gotham Gang War Is Subtly Setting Up The Perfect New Villain For Pattinson’s Batman Sequels
HBO’s The Penguin is setting up a gang war that could lead to the perfect villain for The Batman - Part II, and it is not Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb.
Based on everything Matt Reeves has said about the timeline betweenThe Batman,The Penguin, and then the sequel leads me to believe that there isa possibilityThe Batman: Part IIwill take place around Christmastime. Batman in the snow is my favorite type of Batman aesthetic and I need to see that happen in the sequel, preferably with that Christmas atmosphere.

6The Batman Part II Hype Is Off The Charts
Originally, 2026 was set to have two of my most highly anticipated superhero movies;Spider-Man 4andThe Batman: Part II. No matter how much I am looking forward to Tom Holland’s fourth outing as Spider-Man,it isThe Batman: Part IIthat I am desperate to see. The two most iconic superheros of all time getting new movies in the same year is unbelievably exciting, like watching Kobe and Shaq in their primes.
Much like howThe Dark Knightwas able to take Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy to new heights followingBatman Begins, I truly believeThe Batman: Part IIcan do the same for Matt Reeves', which is the highest praise (pre-release) that I can give it.

5Bring Greig Fraser Back For Part II
The Batmanis arguably the most beautiful looking comic book movie of all time. This is largely due to legendary cinematographer Greig Fraserand his ability to make blockbuster movies truly look like works of art. He did it withThe Batman,Dune,Dune: Part Two, and evenThe Mandalorian. Imagining how Greig Fraser and Matt Reeves capture a snow-blanketed Gotham is what all my dreams consist of.
It was unclear if Fraser would return for the sequel given thatDune: Messiahwas possibly beginning to film close to the same time asThe Batman: Part II. Luckily, it has been reported that the thirdDunefilm will look to film at the beginning of 2026, which means that Fraser should be open to continue his work withThe Batman: Part II.
4Sofia Needs To Be In The Sequel
Cristin Milioti as Sofia Gigante (formerly Falcone) has been a revelation inThe Penguin. She has held her own against an all-time villain performance from Colin Farrell, making Sofia one of the best villains in any superhero adaptation. She really is that good, and it would be a shame to limit her to just one season of television.
Is Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone the best DC live action villain?
One thing is for sure, Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone is a force to be reckoned with. Viewers are calling for the actress to receive an Emmy after her incredible performance in The Penguin, and I am absolutely in agreement with that. While there have been a number of great DC live action villains, it might be time to crown a new best. Heath Ledger’s Joker is at the top of most people’s lists, but I think that the way Milioti has evolved this character, and allowed her to embrace who she is, taking back what is rightfully hers, is empowering. In my opinion, she is the best of the best.
Sofia is such an interesting and complex character who you can’t help but root for despite her doing some questionable things throughout the course ofThe Penguin. It would be amazing ifThe Batman: Part IIwere able to incorporate her into the story in some capacity. There is still so much to explore with her.
3Matt Reeves' Epic Crime Saga Is Thriving
Matt Reeves has referred to the franchise he is building as The Batman Epic Crime Saga, and I have to say, it is off to the best possible start that it could have. The Batmanis amazing. The Penguinis amazing, andThe Batman: Part IIwill look to start filming in early 2025. It feels like one of the best times to be a fan of Batman and of DC as a whole.
It was a long tumultuous road throughout the DCEU, but Matt Reeves' universe has proven to be one of the best interpretations of Batman and Gotham City as a whole, that we have ever seen. That first trailer forThe Batman: Part IIis going to hit so hard, showing just how good the saga can be.
2The Penguin Has Made The Batman Even Better
Much like Robert Pattinson screaming, I too can’t contain my excitement every timeThe Penguinreferences the broader world of Batman, especially with how it ties into the events ofThe Batman. Like all great stories,The Penguincan certainly be enjoyed without ever having seen the first film, but personally, I feel that the two projects compliment each other so well, andThe Penguinretroactively makesThe Batmaneven better.
One of my favorite moments inThe Penguinis Victor witnessing the destruction of the floods that Riddler caused inThe Batman. Before, the audience, like Batman, witnessed the flooding from a distance, but it wasn’t untilThe Penguinthat you realize just how truly terrifying Riddler’s plan was. It adds depth to the world and the movie in deeper ways than ever before.
1The Perfect Story For The Batman Part II
I’ve already mentioned my love for Batman in the snow, and I truly hope thatThe Batman: Part IIwill deliver on that front. If it happens, I don’t even care about what the story is about, a three-hour film about a snowball fight between Batman and his villains will be cinema to me. It will truly be something special.
Which Batman villain deserves a TV series after The Penguin?
Assuming The Batman 2 involves some new villains that HBO might want to explore in the future, I’d like to speculate about which ones would make interesting TV protagonists. What works so well about The Penguin is that it feels close to the Gotham City and Batman universe we know, but it also doesn’t require Batman to be present to work. Catwoman is an obvious choice, but I think Poison Ivy is someone who could be an outstanding lead and garner audience sympathy in an interesting way.
Jokes aside,The Batman: Part IIis one of my most anticipated superhero films of all time, and Matt Reeves has proven time and again that he can deliver when it comes to these iconic characters. The Caped Crusader is in good hands, and it feels like a new era of DC is truly beginning after a decade of divisiveness and missed opportunities. I am so excited to see what happens next.
