Every new Chapter ofFortniteincludes a new loot pool with new weapons and items and new perks and drawbacks. EveryFortniteplayer will likely have a favorite item and loadout each season that reflects their unique playstyle.Fortnitehas introduced almost all new weapons and items this season, some of which directly tie to the Japanese theme of Chapter 6, Season 1. The newly added items include two Assault Rifles, three Shotguns, two SMGs, two Oni Masks, and one new melee weapon.
Nearly everynew weapon inFortniteChapter 6 Season 1came with the reintroduction of hitscan, meaning there is no delay accounting for ammo travel time, and the hit will register the moment you pull the trigger. This makes many of the weapons this season, especially those with scopes, incredibly powerful and effective. Still, some weapons have risen above the rest to become part of the new “meta,” and for good reason. Here’s a breakdown of thebest weapons introduced inChapter 6, Season 1,and why they’re worth adding to your loadout.

10Oni Shotgun
A Consistent Shotgun
FortniteChapter 6 Season 1 added three new Shotguns, and while they all have their merits for various playstyles, the most underwhelming has been the Oni Shotgun. The Oni Shotgun is powerful, sporting a double barrel and an excellent reload animation. It hits hard consistently, especially if you can land a headshot, and it reloads slightly faster than the Twin Auto Shotgun.
10 Fortnite Bosses That Need To Make A Comeback
There are many Fortnite bosses that need to make a comeback in future seasons because they were so loved and stayed in the memory of players.
Unfortunately, the Oni Shotgun suffers somewhat from its small magazine size. The Oni Shotgun only holds two shots at a time, meaning if you want to get the most out of it will need to be extremely precise. It also does moderate damage, falling between the other two offerings this season; a headshot with the Mythic rarity Oni Shotgun only appears to do a maximum of 110 damage, while the Sentinel Pump can reach 200.

The Oni Shotgun is consistent and reliable in damage output, but this weapon will not fit every playstyle. While it’s not without its merits, it does not hold up against many of the other new weapons added this season.
9Fury AR
A High Fire Rate AR
Similar to the Oni Shotgun, the Fury AR is not necessarily a bad weapon inFortniteChapter 6 Season 1. It is a scopeless AR with a high fire rate, and it always contains a Speed Grip, allowing you to move faster while Aiming Down Sights. It is not as useful at long range, as it lacks a scope and doesn’t hit quite as hard as it does from mid- to short-range.
You can get a discount when purchasing the Legendary Fury AR from Shadow Blade Hope this season bycompletingFortnite’sExpertise Quests.

It is low on this list because it lacks any distinguishing features that make it a compelling choice over the other Assault Rifle added toFortniteChapter 6 Season 1, the Holo-Twister. It is a decent AR, and it is sure to have its fans, but most players will be better off opting for a Veiled Precision SMG or Holo-Twister AR over the Fury.
8Fire Oni Mask
Auto-Targeted Projectiles
FortniteChapter 6 Season 1’s Japanese theme introducedtwo Oni Masksto the loot pool, but one is clearly better than the other. The Fire Oni Mask is, unfortunately, the weaker of the two. The Fire Oni Mask shoots offa mask-shaped projectile that deals a flat 100 damage to opponents and structures in its path. Similar to hitscan, the projectile auto-targets enemies, but this is primarily useful at close range since this mask projectile is so large and slow that it can be easily dodged from a distance. Each Fire Oni Mask only contains a limited number of projectiles before the item disappears from your inventory.
Shogun X’s Mythic Fire Oni Mask is the best version of the Fire Oni Mask. You can get it by defeating Shogun X in his boss arena. It has 16 charges before disappearing, double the Epic rarity version’s.

It is possible to make some incredible plays using the Fire Oni Mask, and in particular situations, the projectile’s ability to target an enemy can be quite powerful. However, theinvariable damage rate and the slow speed of the projectiles at a distance hold it backwhen compared to the Void Oni Mask. Still, it is worth picking up and playing with, especially to break down structures opponents might be hiding behind.
7Surgefire SMG
A Decent Alternate SMG
There is nothing inherently wrong with the Surgefire SMG, and there are certainly going to be players who prefer it for their playstyle. However, similar to the previous three entries on this list, the Surgefire SMGfeels weaker compared to its sister SMG this season, the Veiled Precision. The Surgefire is still a decent weapon, however. Like the Fury AR, it lacks a scope. The Surgefire is fully automatic and gets significantly faster and more precise when you continuously hold down the trigger to fire. Its magazine is massive, holding a staggering 40 light ammo.
Was Fortnite OG worth the wait?
Fortnite OG is here, and after having played quite a few matches in the game mode, I have a few issues with it. There is something great about going back to the original map with the friends you used to play the game with. In that regard, I love Fortnite OG. However, since the game was s primitive back then, I have found it way harder to come across shields, chests, and goot loot on the move. I still enjoy playing it with my friends, but Fortnite OG will likely be at its best starting with season 3’s additions.
The Surgefire SMG is worth picking up and adding to your loadout at least a few times. Mastering it well enough to get the significant fire rate boost may take a few tries, but it is likely to become a favorite if you spend time and get the hang of it.

6Twinfire Auto Shotgun
The First Automatic Shotgun
Automatic Shotguns tend to be very hit-or-miss inFortnite, and while the Twinfire Auto Shotgun isn’t exactly a hit, it’s not remotely a miss either. The Twinfire Auto Shotgun is fully automatic, firing much faster than either the Oni or Sentinel Pump Shotguns. It fires two shells per shot and is most useful in close combat situations. At even medium distance, it becomes significantly less powerful and more of a liability to use.
At a damage cap of 120 for the Legendary rarity version and 125 for the Mythic rarity, the Twinfire Auto does by far the least damage of the three shotguns included in this season. However, its reload speed is a bit better than either of the other two options.

While not especially powerful and not viable for most distance fights, the Twinfire Auto Shotgun is the first automatic shotgun to be added toFortnitein a while, and fans of automatic weapons may find a regular spot in their loadout for this one. It is adecently middle-of-the-road offering for this seasonand worth trying in at least a match or two.
5Sentinel Pump Shotgun
The Best Shotgun To Use
Of the three shotguns currently available inFortniteChapter 6 Season 1, the Sentinel Pump Shotgun feels the best to use, even after balance changes. While the Oni Shotgun is powerful but limited and unwieldy, and the Twinfire Auto feels situational and not especially powerful, theSentinel Pump Shotgun strikes a decent balance of power, fire rate, and magazine size.
The Enhanced Sentinel Pump Shotgun can do up to 200 headshot damage, making it an especially coveted part of many players' loadouts.

It is similar to the Gatekeeper Shotgun from Chapter 5, with a more limited number of shells available before you need to reload. This ultimately loses it a few points, but it is the best close-range option and the best counter to this season’s more gimmicky melee weapon, the Typhoon Blade. The undisputedbest version of the Sentinel Pump Shotgun is the Mythic Enhanced, which has a one-in-four chance of dropping if youdefeat Shogun Xwhen he spawns randomly around the map.
4Veiled Precision SMG
The Best SMG Right Now
For SMG fans inFortnite, the Veiled Precision SMG is a must-have.The Veiled Precision SMG has a red-eye sight to grant near-perfect accuracy. The recoil on the Veiled Precision SMG is nearly nonexistent, making it stable and reliable even at a distance. It is also suppressed, making it fire fairly quietly for stealthier playstyles. It has a significantly smaller magazine compared to the Surgefire and does not fire quite as quickly, but the laser precision and low recoil more than make up for it.
Because it is an SMG and uses Light Ammo, the Veiled Precision SMG is a fairly low-damage weapon until it reaches Legendary or Mythic rarity. Still, its stability makes it feel good to use and is quite good at medium and long range. In a season once more lacking Sniper Rifles, the Veiled Precision SMG and the other scoped weapon this season, the Holo-Twister AR, hold their own as distance options.

3Typhoon Blade
Fun & Powerful
Though billed as a melee weapon and a mobility item, the Typhoon Blade inFortniteChapter 6 Season 1 is far better in one category than the other. Though not quite as strong for mobility as Chapter 4’s Kinetic Blade, the Typhoon Blade allows for a slightly faster sprint while equipped and for asmooth double-jump function that feels a little like flying but pales in comparison to other new mobility items this season. Using the Typhoon Blade for mobility also counts toward its limited durability, and this is ultimately not a great return on investment.
Where the Typhoon Blade shines, however, and why it’s so high on this list, is as a melee weapon.Fortniteis, above all, a shooter, but its melee weapons have allowed for more diverse playstyles, and the Typhoon Blade is no exception. The Typhoon Blade’s melee combo is incredibly powerful, and you can defeat an opponent in just a few strokes once you get the hang of it. The movement features will allow you to close the distance from enemies fairly quickly to make melee combat more viable under more circumstances. It also feels more balanced than previous seasons' melee weapons, as even this season’s spray weapons can be a decent counter at close range.

2Void Oni Mask
The Stronger Mask
Of the two Oni Masks available this season, the Void Oni Mask is the stronger and the one you should opt to add to your loadout over the Fire Oni Mask, even over the Mythic rarity version.
The Void Oni Mask does not have weapon functionality, so, admittedly, we are stretching the definition by putting it this high on the list. However, as a tactical item, it isone of the best additions toFortniteChapter 6 Season 1.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Gameplay Trailer Confirms Godzilla, Alongside New Weapons & Skins
Fortnite’s Chapter 6, Season 1 arrives tomorrow and a new trailer has revealed what to expect, including Baymax, Godzilla, and plenty more content.
You can use the Void Oni Mask to either create a Void Tear somewhere nearby or lob a Void Projectile some distance away. In either case, during a firefight, you can thenTeleport to the Tear or Projectileto gain the advantage or escape a potentially game-ending situation.
The Mythic Void Oni Mask that drops fromdefeating Night Roseis the best available version, as it has 50 charges and thus grants you more opportunities to teleport during a match.
There is a limit to Teleportation functionality when using the Void Oni Mask, both in terms of distance and length of time between creating the Tear or Projectile and using the Teleport ability. Additionally, while you cannot be hit mid-Teleport,opponents can anticipate where you’ll land based on the Void Tear and snipe you as you exit the Teleport.Still, for mobility and tactical play, especially in Zero Build, the Void Oni Mask is a must-have item and an important part of nearly every loadout inFortniteChapter 6 Season 1.
1Holo-Twister AR
The Best Weapon Overall
At the time of writing, even following the first hotfix balance change, thenumber one best weapon inFortniteChapter 6 Season 1 is the Holo-Twister AR. The Holo-Twister is an incredibly versatile spray weapon that feels great to use both mid to long-range and hip-firing at close range. There is less recoil to the Holo-Twister than previous chapters' ARs, making itincredibly stable and accurate, and with the re-addition of hitscan toFortnite’sweapons this season, it’s able to do a lot of damage in little time.
At any rarity, the Holo-Twister AR is the better of the two ARs and an important part of almost anyFortniteloadout as a spray/distance weapon. The best version of the Holo-Twister AR comes from the Mythic chest on the train. The first player to heist the Mythic train chest receives the Enhanced Holo-Twister AR,Fortnite’sbest Mythic and best weapon overall.
