DOTA 2

39-7 at 16 minutes is more like a pub game scoreline than a pro match, but its exactly what happened to beastcoast when they faced off against Shopify Rebellion.

Berlin Major viewers were witness to a massacre on Day 2 of the ESL One Berlin Major as Shopify Rebellion defeated beastcoast 2-0 in a record-breaking series. Played on April 27, game two of the series saw beastcoast throw in the towel at just 16 minutes and 25 seconds, having been subject to a 39 - 7 scoreline.

DOTA 2

Game one wasn’t great for beastcoast, with the team dismantled in 25 minutes by a Shopify team that clearly had their number.

But the real show was to come in the next game, which saw Shopify amass over 30 kills in under 15 minutes. In a stomp that we only see in mismatched pub games, Shopify broke personal and professional records. In particular, Tal “Fly” Aizik hit most assists at 13 minutes of any support in the event.

How did Shopify Rebellion dominate beastcoast?

Who was performing well this match to secure this scoreline? Well, pretty much all of Shopify Rebellion. However, one of the key reasons for this huge loss was beastcoast’s baffling draft that saw them with an early Alchemist pick, and nothing to deal with the Terrorblade or Abed “Abed” Yusop’s Timbersaw. Abed, who finished the game 16/1/4, was a menace throughout the short match, surviving on almost zero health and causing trouble all over the new 7.33 map.

Overall, this seemed like the result of one team heavily understanding the new 7.33 patch, and the other barely grasping it at all. With the win Shopify Rebellion go to a 5-3 record, with the Upper Bracket and playoffs almost certainly locked in after the second day. Beastcoast, on the other hand, are now 2-4, and will have some tough matches ahead of them.
