An upcoming movie adapted from a viralhorrorvideo game is finally set for a domestic release. Over the years, quite a few genre games have been brought to the big screen, perhaps most prominently with theResident Evilfranchise, which has expanded to include seven live-action installments and a one-season Netflix series. The Movie Is Based On A Thai Video Game Franchise

The release ofHome Sweet Home: Rebirthhas received a major update. The upcoming movie, which was directed by Alexander Kiesl and Steffen Hacker, isan adaptation of the viral Thai video game horror franchiseHome Sweet Home, which launched in 2017. The cast includesChronicles of NarniastarWilliam Moseley,365 Days' Michele Morrone,Brother of the Year’s Yaya Urassaya Sperbund, and K-pop star Alexander Lee, who is part of the boy band U-KISS. Home Sweet Home: Rebirthfollows Jake (Moseley), a cop thrust into an alternate realm called “The Hindrance” during a deadly mall shooting. With the help of a mysterious Novice Monk (Lee), Jake must race the clock to save his wife, Prang (Sperbund), and stop an evil occultist, Mek (Morrone), from opening the Gates of Hell.

Vertical Entertainmenthas now announced thatthey have acquiredHome Sweet Home: Rebirthand will be releasing it in North America in April. It is unknown what day that month the release will debut, but this release window places it in domestic theaters alongside other April movies includingA Minecraft Movie,The Amateur,Drop,Sinners, andThe Accountant 2. It remains to be seen if this will help or hurt the movie, butHome Sweet Home: Rebirthis now set to make its domestic debut during the same month as theupcomingUntil Dawn, which arrives on April 25. That movie is also ahorrorgame adaptation, with director David F. Sandberg (Lights Out,Annabelle: Creation) bringing the deadly choose-your-own-adventure story to life. While it could potentially boost interest in other horror video game movies,it poses a danger of taking up all of audiences' attentionthat month and preventing the impending Vertical Entertainment release from making much money.
