All of Us Are Deadseason 2 has been described as a “survival period for zombies,” which all but confirms a popular theory about how important Choi Nam-ra will be going forward. Thewait forAll of Us Are Deadseason 2has been incredibly frustrating, with the show’s second chapter yet to be given a release date. All of Us Are Deadwill reportedly only start filming season 2 in 2025, meaning that thezombie K-dramamight only return in 2026. This is why not much is known about what will happen next to the characters.
Another reason whyit can be difficult to come up with theories forAll of Us Are Deadseason 2is that the show has already covered most of the webtoon it is based on. TheNetflix K-dramais now moving into an original story, although it will surely continue some of the storylines set up in the first season. This includes the introduction of hambies, the asymptomatic zombies ofAll of Us Are Dead, who are expected to be even more important in season 2.

After the successful release ofAll of Us Are Deadseason 1 on Netflix, Lee Jae-kyoo, one of the series' creators, teased what viewers could expect from the show’s next chapter. Speaking toHypeBeast KR(viaWhat’s On Netflix), Lee said thatAll of Us Are Deadwas written“with season 2 in mind.”He also pointed out that, whereas“season 1 was a survival period for humans,”season 2 would be a“survival period for zombies.”This strongly suggests that the surviving hambies will be front and center in season 2.
Nam-ra became a hambie after being bitten by Gwi-nam.
All of Us Are Dead’s hambiesare technically zombies in the sense that they have been infected with the Jonas virus. However, people like Nam-ra and Gwi-nam did not fully give in to the virus, instead keeping their consciousness despite suddenly craving human brains. The military is making no distinction between regular zombies and hambies, meaning that Nam-ra and others like her are now targets. At the end of episode 12, Nam-ra, who had been gone for months, told her friends that there were other hambies like herhiding in the wreckages of Hyosan.
The Military Is Making No Distinction Between Zombies And Hambies
As soon as the military – or what was left from it in Hyosan – learned of the existence of asymptomatic zombies, they changed their approach to the crisis. Firstly, all rescue missions were put on hold since there was no way to confirm whether someone was an asymptomatic zombie.Secondly, as the virus continued to spread across the city and risked reaching other regions, Commander Jin decided to authorize the bombing of Hyosan to stop the zombie threat once and for all.

While it can be assumed that most zombies were killed during the bombings, it is safe to say that a few of them must have survived. Additionally,as revealed by Nam-ra in the finale, many hambies have survived and are hiding. The military will surely keep hunting the remaining zombies – including the asymptomatic ones – meaning that Nam-ra and her new friends will have to fight for their lives. This is likely whatAll of Us Are Dead’s director meant by“a survival period for zombies.”
AssumingAll of Us Are Deadseason 2 will indeed be about hambies like Nam-ra trying to survive, the K-drama will flip the zombie genre on its head.Rather than a story about humans running away from zombies, it will be a story about zombies running away from humans. The idea that humans are the biggest threat in a zombie apocalypse is nothing new, but telling a story from the perspective of a zombie – or at least a half-zombie – is an exciting new take on the genre.

Nam-ra might not be the only hambie main character inAll of Us Are Deadseason 2.If Cheong-san is alive, he will most likely return as a hambie too considering he was bitten by Gwi-nam during their final fight. That is not to mention all the hambies with whom Nam-ra has been living. A zombie show where some of the main characters are actually zombies trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic city is a very fun premise that can makeAll of Us Are Deadseason 2 feel fresh compared to the first season.
