Nanoha is stated to be 13 in the plot description, and with the anime’s official timeline, not only is Nanoha now an official agent of the Time-Space Administration Bureau, but it means thatMagical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS: Gun Blaze Vengeancetakes place in the ten years betweenMagical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A’sandMagical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Strikers. That period has been notably vague for years, so it’s great that the new anime is expanding on it.

While the first two movies are largely just recap films of the anime, not only do they have notable differences in their plots and characterizations, but the most recent films,ReflectionandDetonation, are explicitly in the continuity of the films, not the anime. Because of that,it’s unclear if people should watch theNanohaanime or the films before watchingMagical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS: Gun Blaze Vengeance, especially with how little of its plot is currently known.
Another issue regarding watch order is the in-universe way the films relate to the anime.
