Another solar day , another awing take on the Periodic Table of Elements . In this one , skill communicator and PhD student Jamie Gallaghermapped out where the scientist were living when they made their discoveries .
Speaking to Smart News , Gallaghertalks about one of his favorite talesof elementary discovery :
One of my favourites has to be atomic number 84 , though , the first constituent to be discovered by Marie and Pierre Curie . They were act in a modify shed with substances so hazardously radioactive their notes are still too active to be handled safely .

bring together they sequester this component and subsequently named it Polonium after Marie ’s home state . ( A country , I may add , that turned her away from her pursuit of education as she was a politically interested female ) . It was her Bob Hope that by naming the element after Poland she could return concerned in the independency ( from Germany ) cause for the res publica . Yet [ in my occasional mesa ] the triumph comes in under the French signal flag where the work was carried out .
It remain to this day the only element to be named after a political cause , and a marvelous tribute to a phenomenal woman .
Other late periodic table takes : MuppetsandLord of the Rings . Alsothis .
