Andorseason 2 is the perfect opportunity forStar Warsto pay off a political storyline that was sadly cut fromStar Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Although there has been plenty of discourse on the topic and arguments to the contrary,Star Warshas been political from the very beginning.A New Hopewas the story of a group of unlikely heroes coming together to fight against an Imperial regime that was threatening their lives and had oppressed the galaxy for nearly two decades.
This political edge toStar Warscontinued throughoutStar Warsmovies and TV shows(after all, George Lucas very specifically faced criticism for making the prequel movies too political).Andorhas followed up on this tradition beautifully, making it one of the most political installments intheStar Warstimeline. Because of that political nature,Andorseason 2is the perfectStar Warsshow to finally honor a major political plot that was cut fromRevenge of the Sith.

George Lucas Cut The Birth Of The Rebellion From Revenge Of The Sith
The Delegation Of 2,000 Was Removed From The Movie—But It Remains Important
In a decision that was frankly shocking,George Lucas decided to cut the entire Delegation of 2,000 arc fromRevenge of the Sith. This arc saw Padmé, Bail Organa, Mon Mothma, and a handful of other senators meeting to discuss Palpatine’s increasing power in the Senate and many alterations to the Constitution. Together, they decided they must oppose Palpatine’s clear moves to obtain complete control of the Republic before it was too late by forming the Delegation of 2,000 alongside other dissenting Senators and confronting Palpatine directly.
There were numerous things that made these deleted scenes pivotal. For one, this made it clear that Padmé was no fool, and, despite her marriage to Anakin, she was ready to defend democracy against Palpatine. These scenes also revealed that many people—thousands, in fact—anticipated Palpatine’s next moves and tried to stop him. In the final cut ofRevenge of the Sith, it feels more like the senators only reacted with dismay after it was already too late. These proactive scenes would have confirmed that there was a fight within the Republic before Palpatine dissolved it and formed the Empire.

Padmé was no fool, and, despite her marriage to Anakin, she was ready to defend democracy against Palpatine.
Although these scenes were sadly removed fromRevenge of the Sith, the Delegation of 2,000 has been mentioned inStar Warscanon multiple times, which suggests that the events within these scenes are more or less canon as well. This would make sense given Mon Mothma and Bail Organa’s continued fight to protect what little remained of the Republic followingRevenge of the Sithand contributions to the Rebellion against the Empire. It seemsAndorseason 2 is well on the way to forming another connection to these deleted scenes as well.

George Lucas' Revenge Of The Sith Changes Completely Destroyed Padmé’s Character & Story
Deleted scenes from Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith reveal how much better Padmé Amidala’s Star Wars story could have been.
Senator Fang Zar Was One Of The Senators Arrested After Revenge Of The Sith
It Wasn’t Only The Jedi Who Were Targeted When Palpatine Took Power
Although Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, and Padmé had the most recognizable faces in the room, another senator, Senator Fang Zar, was also part of the Delegation of 2,000 and was there when the senators confronted Palpatine. This opposition undoubtedly led to Fang Zar being one of the senators who were arrested afterRevenge of the Sith. The attack on and near extinction of the Jedi was certainly the focus ofRevenge of the Sithand continued to be the focus for quite some time inStar Warsshows, but dissenting senators were also targeted by Palpatine after the Republic fell.
Dissenting senators were also targeted by Palpatine after the Republic fell.

In fact, in canon, more than 60 Republic senators—all of whom had been in the Delegation of 2,000—were arrested for conspiracy and treason the day after the Empire was formed. Even Mon Mothma and Bail Organa were among those numbers, which makes sense given how outspoken they had been. However, they were ultimately released after declaring their loyalty to the Empire (something Mon Mothma carried great shame about).
Fang Zar’s canon story following his arrest hasn’t been clarified, but his Legends story is significantly more detailed. In Legends, Fang Zar was killed by Darth Vader himself after escaping Coruscant and fleeing to Alderaan, and the entire sector he represented, the Sern sector, also suffered a terrible fate, falling under Imperial occupation. The Sern sector comprised planets Ghorman and Sern Prime, andGhorman in particular has a devastating historythat may make its on-screen debut inAndorseason 2.

Andor Season 2’s Ghorman Massacre Continues The Story George Lucas Cut
The Ghorman Massacre Is Expected To Play A Major Role in Andor Season 2
In canon as well as in Legends,a massacre was carried out by Wilhuff Tarkin on the planet Ghorman, which led to the death of countless peaceful protesters. Thus far on-screen, the Ghorman Massacre has only been mentioned, most notably inStar Wars Rebelsin a speech delivered by Mon Mothma. Recent never-before-seen footage fromAndorseason 2 has many believing the Ghorman Massacre will be shown in this upcoming season of the show, though.
Assuming the clip of civilians calling for help inAndorseason 2 is the Ghorman Massacre, this would create a narrative throughline from the Delegation of 2,000 toAndorseason 2. This event is one of the most gruesome inStar Wars, and given the intensely political nature ofAndor, it would make sense for this to be the show that finally depicts the massacre. For now, this is speculative, but the Ghorman Massacre befits the tone ofAndorseason 2 and would make good on this deleted arc fromStar Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
