2025’s Best Picture winnerAnorais full of memorable scenes and unforgettable quotes that are often hilarious but also sometimes quite powerful. ThroughoutAnora, which won 5 Academy Awards, including Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, andBest Actress for Mike Madison, Ani (Anora) experiences a brief rise and fall into an ultra-luxurious lifestyle after meeting the young heir to an enormous Russian fortune, Ivan. Ani ultimately discovers that Ivan is just a child with little care for anything or anyone in the world.
It’s no surprise thatAnorais full ofexceptional dialogue, both funny and poignant, based on its Oscar-winning screenplay, written by director Sean Baker. The chaotic energy that makes up much ofAnorabrings about many distinct one-liners and statements that become essential to the heart of the film. While Ani and Ivan are the two most in the spotlight, some of the supporting characters – such as Igor, Garnik, and Toros – contribute to some of thebest moments inAnora.

Garnik
Towards theend ofAnora, after Toros, Garnik, and Igor find Ivan with Ani’s help. As Ivan sleeps off a night of fleeing and partying solo, Garnik tells Igor about a time when Ivan and his friends destroyed his parents' pool because of their stupidity. “They were stoned and poured four pounds of Kool-Aid in the pool.They destroyed the whole system. $87,000 in damages.” This is a perfect example of how childish and unruly Ivan truly is.

Ivan
After Ivan and Ani return from Las Vegas as husband and wife, it only takes a matter of hours for Toros to send Garnik and Igor to his parents' mansion to investigate. After some resistance, Ivan finally lets Garnick inside the house to take a photo of their marriage certificate. This sends Toros through the roof, who leaves the baptism of a young family member (presumably a grandchild) and calls Garnik. Ani joins Ivan in trying to get rid of Garnik and Igor,following Ivan’s lead without knowing what is really going on.

Ani
Back in their “honeymoon” phase, Ivan asks Ani to go exclusive after she sleeps in until 5 PM and tries to rush off to work at the nightclub. Ani hears Ivan’s proposal to be his exclusive girlfriend for the week, which includes paying her $10,000.

Ani ups the price to $15,000 cash, which Ivan has no problem agreeing to. Ani shows her hand and tells Ivan she would have done it for 10 grand, to which he responds, “Well if I were you, I wouldn’t do it for less than 30.” While funny, this scene shows just how much money Ivan has.
9"She’s A F–king Little Girl! She Beat You Both Up?" “She’s Not Fighting Like One.”
Toros & Garnik
When Toros arrives at Ivan’s mansion, he can’t believe what he is seeing as Igor holds Ani and Garnik ices his face after Ani kicks him and breaks his nose. Toros is infuriated that Ivan got away and is perplexed by how much damage Ani causes given her stature. Igor also took a few hits from Ani but did not hit back. Still,Toros is amazed that Ani injured Garnik’s face so badly, which inspired Garnik to hilariously say that even though she is a petite girl, she doesn’t fight like one.
8"Thank You For Making My Last Trip To America So Fun."
After ditching Ani and finally getting caught by Toros, Ivan completely changes his demeanor towards Ani at the end of the film. Like the little boy he is, he becomes consumed only by the potential consequences of his actions andhe realizes he will never be coming to the United States again.
When Ani asks if they’re actually getting a divorce,Ivan laughs and says, “Of course. Are you stupid?”. He offers an empty “thank you” and misses the point of how he just used Ani. Ani likley had a hunch that Ivan was unserious about the whole marriage but was also interested in walking away with some of his wealth.

Michael & Ani
When Toros drags Ivan to meet his dad’s attorney Michael the next morning at a New York City courthouse, he doesn’t properly introduce Ani.Michael notices Ani standing there and asks if she is the other half of the annulmentbut doesn’t exactly know what to call her. Ani hilariously calls herself the “lucky lady” while also being incredibly annoyed and unwilling to cooperate. It’s a brief moment inAnorabut it highlights how funny Madison can be with her direct and sarcastic approach.
6"You’re A Pathetic Motherf––r!"
Towards the end of Anora, Ani overhears Ivan explaining himself to his parents and trying to belittle the whole occurrence. While Ani gets called much worse throughout the film, Ivan admits that she is an “escort” to his parents, which ignites Ani to defend herself. She approaches Ivan from the other side of the plane and says, “I’m f–king glad to be divorcing your sorry ass.” When she calls Ivan pathetic, it’sthe only time that Ivan’s mom agrees with what Ani says.
5"Yesterday Was Your F–king Birthday?" “I Was 30.”
Ani & Igor
Igor and Ani begin talking in Ivan’s mansion. It’s just the two of them and Igor is meant to keep an eye on her until the morning. Igor has been protective of Ani throughout the film and seems to express some interest in her by saying he likes her real name, Anora, more than Ani. The two also share a funny moment in whichAni helps Igor figure out how to say “touché” instead of “toosh”. The funniest part of all was Igor randomly telling Ani that his birthday was yesterday, which confused Ani and made her laugh.

This brief scene was one of the first inAnoratrailer and says so much about Ani in just a few words.Ani’s nocturnal lifestyle forces her to sleep throughout the daywhile her sister lives a regular schedule.

Mikey Madison received a lot of attention for her impressive performance in Anora, but the new movie is not the only great performance in her career.
As Ani tries to fall asleep, her sister is presumably making breakfast or having cereal, which is why she asks for milk. Ani responds with her own question, “Do you see milk in the fridge?” and answers her sister’s question,“Then I didn’t pick up the f–ing milk.“Her sister could have put two and two together but instead woke Ani up when she didn’t have to.
3"I’m Just Gonna Go Chill In My Mansion Or Whateva.”
Ani gives her a sort of “kiss of death” akin toThe Godfather Part IIto her rude club co-worker Diamond as she quits her job to spend time with Ivan. Diamond certainly provoked Ani, who knows how to defend herself both physically and verbally. She tells Diamond on her way out, “Stay jealous, babe. Jealousy is a disease. Remember that, Diamond.“This is probably Ani’s happiest moment in the entire filmand Ani handles Diamond’s malice gracefully.
