Trinity is the Only ‘Wonder Woman’ Left in DC’s Twisted Future

The ‘Wonder War’ Will Wipe Out Almost Every Other Amazon

InWonder Woman #19by Tom King, Daniel Sampere, Tomeu Morey, and Clayton Cowles, the Sovereign is rushing to end his story of how Diana defeated him, but Trinity isn’t satisfied as she knows there’s more to his story. She binds him with the Lasso of Truth and demands that he finish the story. But before he does, the deposed king of America sheds light on the ‘Wonder War’ that Trinity is currently battling. A war that has not only claimed the lives of heroes like Donna Troy or Yara Flor, but also the life of Wonder Woman.

Trinity and the Sovereign speak a bit more about the Wonder War, revealing that it’s being fought by Lyssa, a powerful figure with a connection to the Sovereign. The imprisoned royal finally finishes his story, telling Trinity how he waited for Wonder Woman at the White House and how he surrendered to her the moment she arrived. But before Diana took the Sovereign to Themyscira for trial and judgment, she forced him to carve the word ‘liar’ into his chest,an action that he still holds against Wonder Woman.

As Trinity tries to put the Sovereign’s mad story together, Wonder Woman’s rival Emelie is in an undisclosed location. She’s in the middle of giving birth and is being assisted by Diana’s close ally, Etta Candy. The childbirth is excruciating for Emelie, who screams about how she and her child are cursed. But eventually, Emelie gives birth to a healthy baby girl. Etta asks Emelie what she wants to name her daughter, and the new mother christens her ‘Lyssa’,the same girl who will one day kill Wonder Woman.

Trinity and Lyssa are Central to the Wonder War, But When Will Fans See This?

The Two Most Important Figures to the Amazon’s Future are Just Babies

This issue came with a lot of big reveals, from the Wonder War, to Lyssa, to Wonder Woman and the Amazons' deaths. It also put a new spin on Trinity, who isn’t just part of the next generation of heroes, but one of the last living Amazons. It’s a hell of a set-up for Wonder Woman’s daughter and a battle like this is sure to get a lot of fans hyped. However, the real question is,with Trinity and Lyssa both being babies, are fans actually going to see the Wonder War play out?

The different timelines have admittedly been one of the more interesting parts of the currentWonder Womanvolume, but these new twists add a couple of wrinkles into the mix. After all, Lizzie was just born last fall and, judging by how things have played out so far, it seems unlikely that DC Comics is going to give her the same artificial aging that they gave Jon Kent a few years back. That being said,Trinity is going to be messing with the timeline pretty soon in her upcoming miniseries,Trinity: Daughter of Wonder Woman.

…fans might not see an active Trinity fighting alongside her mother…

While time-travel shenanigans aren’t completely out of the question, the most likely event is that the Wonder War is simply going to play out in Wonder Woman as a potential future. Futures are rarely concrete in the DC Universe, and it allows for Trinity’s story to be told in a way that doesn’t impact Diana’s narrative in the past (or the modern-day) DC Universe. Unfortunately, that means fans might not see an active Trinity fighting alongside her mother, butmaybe it’s best that Wonder Woman’s daughter stands on her own in the upcoming Wonder War.

There’s No Need to Rush Wonder Woman’s Daughter Anywhere

DC Clearly Has Big Plans for Trinity

While some may wish that Trinity would just go ahead and play a bigger part in the DC Universe, there’s no need to push. She’s clearly got big things in store as there’s a war on the horizon that she’s going to play a huge role in. While Trinity’s just a baby in modern-day DCU, she’s going to be the last hope for the Amazons to find justice when Lyssa attempts to destroy everything they hold dear. It might take a little time, but it will be worth it to see the newWonder Womanin action.
