Attack On Titan’s latest film,Attack On Titan: Last Attack, has given fans a glimpse of another world, and the reaction is as wild as the scene itself. The film is a recap ofAttack On Titan’s final moments, covering the last four episodes of the blockbuster anime.WithThe Last Attackinititally slated for September 2024, it finally premiered in Japan on Friday, November 8—although Western fans are still awaiting a release date for the finale’s film version.
The fact thatAttack On Titan: Last Attackwould surprise fans with a post-credits sequence is, well, unsurprising. The franchise has always taken the chance to throw in a last word just when things seem to have been neatly tied up.Attack On Titan’s famously open-ended epilogueis a particularly notable example of this.Last Attack, on the other hand, chooses to adapt a throwaway sequence at the last second—and in doing so, it turns something lighthearted into food for thought with massive implications for the series.

Attack On Titan’s Forgotten Timeline Is Finally Adapted, And Fans Are Losing Their Minds
The Teaser Promises To BringAttack On Titan’s Other Timeline To Life
Thefilm’s official account teasedThe Last Attack’spost-credits sequencewith a picture of Armin, Mikasa, and Eren at a theater. It apparently adapts part ofAttack On School Caste, a set of fake previews for a manga of the same name that featuresAttack On Titan’s characters occupying a very different world without Titans. The series has long been a superfan oddity; it’s possible to watch the anime, movies, and OVAs without ever hearing about it.
Seeing Eren, Mikasa, and Armin navigate a world without Titans is a tantalizing prospect. With interest in theAttack On School Casteuniverse increasing after the post-credits scene reveal,@AIR_News01gave the “Attack on School Castes” character profiles for the main trio. Seeing Mikasa in goth attire or Armin living out life as a shut-in geek has been a shocking departure from the roles the characters took on in the main series:
Attack on School Castewas a long-running inclusion, with brief vignettes appearing in Volume 21 and every volume after. The snippet comes from the final preview, “End Roll”, where the trio watches a movie together and discusses it afterward. WithLast Attackbeing the final entry inAttack On Titan’s anime series, the discussion of the movie (apparently the last in its own series, itself) outside the theater is hilariously fitting. More than that, though, the parallel universe bringsAttack On Titan’s meditations on willpower and timelines into plain view in a surprising way.
