Ryan Reynolds has addressed the possibility ofDeadpool 4nearly four months afterMarvelStudios releasedDeadpool & Wolverine. The fact that there is ademand forDeadpool 4so soon should come as no surprise given theimmense success ofDeadpool & Wolverine. The record-breaking MCU movie has proven that there is still a lot of enthusiasm for the character while also proving that it is still in capable hands now that Deadpool is officially part of the MCU.

After commenting on the positive response toDeadpool & Wolverine,ExtraTVsuggested in an interview with Ryan Reynolds posted on X that he could film “another one,” to which he responded:

“Oh now, bite your tongue. That’s uh…I would love that, but there’s a reason it’s been six years since the last one. It just sort of swallows my life whole, and I have four kidsthat I want to…wouldn’t mind introducing myself to at some point and spending a little time just walking them…walking them to and from school.”

Reynolds' comments come just days afterDeadpool & Wolverinelanded on Disney+ alongside the hour-long documentary,Assembled: The Making of Deadpool & Wolverine. The accompanying featurette certainly validates Reynolds' claims that making Deadpool movies “swallows [his] life whole,” as it details the incredible amount of work that went into making that movie alone. The comments also clue us into if and when we can expect to seetheDeadpool & Wolverinesequel.

What Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool 4 Comments Mean

Reynolds Didn’t Say Deadpool 4 Isn’t Going To Happen

Ryan Reynolds' comments may be initially read as him balking at the idea of making another Deadpool movie entirely, but that isn’t necessarily the case.Deadpool & Wolverineis still at the forefront of the MCU zeitgeist with the dust still settling from its impact. It’s no secret that Reynolds adores the character (he expresses as much in the interview above), andthis, combined with the fact thatDeadpool & Wolverinewas such a money-spinner for Marvel Studios, suggests thatDeadpool 4is already in the pipelineforthe future of the MCU.

Deadpool 4has not yet been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios.

Instead, it seems thatReynolds is merely suggesting that he would appreciate a substantial break first. MakingDeadpool & Wolverinewas a significant undertaking in itself, but Reynolds and others were also extremely proactive in marketing the movie on the months-long press tour leading up to its release - which was only a few months ago. Furthermore, leaving several years between the releases ofindividual franchises in the MCUis pretty standard procedure. None of that is to say Deadpool won’t feature in other movies likeAvengers: Secret Wars, however.

Our Take On Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool 4 Comments

Ryan Reynolds Deserves A Break, But I Think We’ll See Deadpool Again Soon

I think it’s perfectly understandable that Ryan Reynolds doesn’t want to think aboutDeadpool 4right now, especially with his comments about wishing to spend time with his family. I’m also very confident that this won’t be the last we see of Deadpool even within the next few years, as he is now a core part of the multiversal narrative that will come to a headwithAvengers: Secret Wars. While I hopeDeadpool 4doesn’t take the six years Reynolds mentioned sat betweenDeadpool 2andDeadpool & Wolverine, a substantial break is certainly well-deserved nonetheless.
