Call of Duty: Black Ops 6is currently dominating the charts but there’s about to be an influx of franchise veterans asone of the series' most beloved maps is making a comeback very soon. The new maps included inBlack Ops 6have proven divisive amongst the community, as a recurring complaint is that many incorporate the “three-lane” format too heavily, resulting in formulaic gameplay. Whether or not one agrees with that theory, the smaller maps have already gained quite a passionate following, so it makes sense that Nuketown is back.
Announced with a trailer onYouTube,Call of Duty: Black Ops 6confirmed that Nuketown is being added to the game’s roster of multiplayer maps on November 1which, at the time of writing, is just a day away.

The actual map itself looks largely identical to how it first appeared in the originalBlack Opsbut has the benefit of a fresh coat of paint to make its distinctive look stand out even more. With the added omnidirectional movement mechanic, fans are undoubtedly excited to see just how chaotic Nuketown can be.
Nuketown Is Back For A New Generation
It Needs Some Fresh Blood
Despite Nuketown’s notoriety in theBlack Opscommunity, there is a decent contingent of players who have never experienced its high-octane gunplay. Considering that the firstBlack Opsis over a decade old, there are likely many younger fans who werenever able to experience the map’s original iterationbecause they were too young. Bringing it back forBlack Ops 6is great news for those who have always enjoyed the faux street but also serves as an opportunity for those who may have missed it.
What Nuketown lacks in size it more than makes up for with character and speed. A multiplayer map designed to resemble a fake city used to test nuclear weapons is a novel idea, especially when it’s so small; The limited scale forces players into fights quickly, resulting in some of thespeediest matches in the entireCall of Dutyfranchise.Modern Warfare’s Shipment may be the gold standard when it comes to tiny multiplayer maps, but Nuketown isn’t too far behind it.

Nuketown’s Return Is A Fun Callback
It’s Perfect For A Free Update
While there’s an argument to be made against recycling popular maps to drum up hype,I don’t think that’s necessarily the case for Nuketown.Call of Duty: Black Ops 6already has plenty ofexcellent original multiplayer maps, perhaps some of the best the franchise has produced in the last decade. Nuketown’s return is a fun way to provide younger players a chance tounderstand the series' pastwhile also giving older fans a nostalgia kick that isn’t a core part of the experience.
