The Wild Area event inPokémon GOwill begin tomorrow, offering a brand-new way to celebrate the game worldwide, at a brand-new time of year. Wild Area is a global event that will run for the first time ever this weekend, November 23 and 24 that will focus on Electric- and Poison-type Pokémon.Pokémon GOhosts several global and local events every year, with the most prominent ones being the massive global events ofPokémon GOFest and Tour.
These events are held in the summer and spring, respectively, so it made sense for Wild Area to launch in the Fall. However, speaking toScreen Rant, Tiane Bella, Senior Marketing Manager, Live Events forPokémon GOrevealed thatthe Wild Area event was a chance to try something new, and not just about filling a gap in the calendar. According to Bella, “I’d say less that there was an opening in the calendar and more so we were really excited about bringing a new concept to life.”

The Timing Of The New Pokémon GO Global Event Was Very Intentional
The Team Wants To Build A “Good Cadence”
When choosing the date for this event, thePokémon GOteam took several factors into consideration. Although the event is not meant to act as filler, it is being held in November becauseit’s important to space out multi-day events. Bella states: “We don’t want to have too many close together to allow trainers to gather resources and plan appropriately and not spend too much time and energy and bandwidth on attending them.”
Pokémon GO: All Into The Wild Research Tasks & Collection Challenges
There are a host of bonuses to grab this week during the Into The Wild event in Pokémon GO, including research tasks and collection challenges.
Instead of more frequent events like Wild Area, the mobile game isattempting to host events “at a good cadence,“just enough to keep players engaged but not enough to overwhelm them. With one global festival already taking place in the summer and one in the spring, it made sense to bring another one to life in the fall.

Pokémon GO Live Events Will Likely Expand To Other Locations
“Never Say Never” For Future Pokémon GO Event Sites
TheWild Area eventhad an in-person component in addition to the global event, which washeld on November 16 and 17 in Maizuru Park of Fukuoka, Japan. OtherPokémon GOin-person events have been held throughout the world, but Wild Area was particularly exciting, as “we were really excited to bring an event of this scale to Fuokaka and that region of Japan where we haven’t hosted a large scale event as of yet,” says Bella.
Hopeful trainers who are eagerly awaiting the day aPokémon GOevent arrives in their hometowns might yet see that day. “I’d say never say never when it comes to future events and where we will host them,” states Bella. Previous live events have been held in New York City, Chicago, Yokohama, and more, and new event locations are added every year. So for anyone who’s dreaming of attending a livePokémon GOevent, as Bella says, “You never know what the future will bring.”
