What The Carry-On Trailer Means
Netflix Is Making Some Big Swings
The trailer forCarry-Onreveals thatthe streamer is pushing the envelope in quite a few wayswith their upcoming movie. WhileNetflix Christmas moviestake on many different genres, they are typically best known for their lighthearted holiday fare that focuses on Hallmark-style high-concept romantic comedies such asA Christmas Prince,The Princess Switch, andFalling for Christmas. This new high-octane action thriller is still heavily Christmas-themed, but takes a very dissimilar approach to the holiday.
2017’sA Christmas Princewas one of Netflix’s first major Christmas rom-coms, spawning a trilogy that ran through 2019.

The trailer also reveals that comedy actorJason Bateman is also pushing his persona to the limit. After taking a darker turn by playing the antihero lead onNetflix’sOzark, the actor has gone full villain in this new role. Although it seems that he will mostly appear in the movie as a voice, the trailer showcases other scenes following his exploits outside of the airport. Both onscreen and off, he provides a chilling presence that is quite different from the approachable persona he has previously cultivated in other roles as well as his podcastSmartLess.
Our Take On The Carry-On Trailer
Taron Egerton’s New Action Role Is An Exciting Move
Another exciting aspect of theCarry-Ontrailer is Egerton’s return to a lead role in the action genre. After starring in the first twoKingsmanmovies and 2018’sRobin Hood, the actor has not taken another action lead. As theupcomingKingsman: The Blue Bloodhas been continually delayed, the Collet-Serra film not only offers him an opportunity to show off his chops once more, but could potentially forge a Neeson-esque dynamic between him and the director where they could collaborate on multiple future action movies.
