The three-disc set features the best pieces of music fromCobra Kaiseasons 4, 5, and 6, curated by the show’s composers Zach Robinson and Leo Birenberg. The set boasts a total of 38 pieces of music, including the composers’ hard-hitting collaborations with Polyphia’s Tim Henson and guitar virtuoso Charlie Robbins. It also has liner notes written by the composers and artwork by Matt Ryan Tobin, and will sell for $55.
The vinyl is released asCobra Kaiends with season 6, and a seemingly unrelated newKarate Kidfilm,Karate Kid: Legends, will continue the story of Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso and other key franchise characters. Therefore, it’s one of the best ways to celebrate the work that Birenberg and Robinson, Emmy-winning composers who also worked onWeird: The Al Yankovic Story,Twisted Metal, andYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, contributed to the series. During an extensiveinterview withScreenRantdetailing their favorite pieces of music from the start of the show up through season 6, part 2, the composers also revealed that part of their job was to give the audience“permission to enjoy”the show by creating a sound that was both over-the-top and perfectly suited to its emotions.Cobra Kaihas never pulled punches with its intense fight scenes and often soapy dramatic moments, and the score by Birenberg and Robinson has always invited viewers in to become fully invested in what was happening on screen.
The composers also adapted with every twist and turn the story has taken along the way. TheCobra KaiVolume 2 Box Set features music from the latter half of the series, which is notably bigger and bolder than where it started. To match the scope of the story, the composers enlisted some of the world’s most proficient guitarists and bassists and borrowed from genres as varied as flamenco and progressive rock.
