Chicago P.D.was the first successful spinoff of the One Chicago franchise, and the police procedural has been renewed for season 13. Created by TV maven Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead,Chicago P.D.follows the officers of the police department’s Intelligence Unit as they use their unique set of skills to crack some of the toughest cases that the city has to offer week after week. The 2023 Hollywood strikes put a damper on NBC’s fall slate and caused the entire One Chicago franchise to premiere midseason in early 2024. That did nothing to diminish the franchise’s popularity, andChicago P.D.’s truncated season 11 quickly earned the series a 12th season renewal. Despite a promised return to normal on the schedule, several major cast changes impacted the trajectory of season 12, including thedeparture of fan-favorite character Hailey Upton(played by Tracy Spiridakos). The Series Has Been Renewed
The latestChicago P.D.season 13 news is that the series wasrenewed for a season 13 just ahead of the season 12 finale. NBC made the announcement to renew all three of their One Chicago shows at the same time. They also made the announcement that all three shows are planned to be a part of thefall 2025 TV schedulesince there have been no major delays to push them to midseason this time around.
Though no other information has been released about the upcoming season, it is expected to start filming in June or July 2025 to make that fall 2025 release window.
