While the world is waiting to learn more about Wonder Woman in theDC Universereboot, theParadise LostTV show gets a promising update from James Gunn himself. As Diana Prince is one of the many Justice League heroes getting rebooted forGunn’s DC Universe, the audience will be getting to re-explore Themyscira throughParadise Lost, a show that takes place before the heroine’s birth. Wonder Woman’s first project in the franchise has been taking longer than some expected in terms of updates, but that doesn’t mean the Max series has gone away.
As the first TV show from the DC Universe,Creature Commandos, is premiering in December,Gunn was recently asked on Threads by a fan if there was anything he could tease about theParadise Lostseries that is also in development for Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters.“While not offering any names on attached creatives,Gunnexplained thatParadise Lostis still being worked on, stating the project is in “very active development”.

While the show was announced over a year ago during Gunn and Peter Safran’s original DC Studios announcement, theParadise Lostproject has yet to get a proper pilot or series pick-up by Max. Whether or not there is a writer attached toParadise Lostremains to be seen, as there have been no official reports of anyone getting hired to write/executive produce theWonder Womanprequel.
What James Gunn’s Paradise Lost Update Mean For The Wonder Woman Prequel Show
Even though a project for Wonder Woman in Gunn’s DC Universe timeline has yet to be revealed,Gunn’s latest update onParadise Lostindicates that they are still committed to making this the first outing for Diana’s mythology in the franchise. The slow update process appears to be DC Studios wanting to make sure that they have a proper and finalized vision forParadise Lost. There is also the notion that they could be revampingParadise Lostto fit as an HBO Original, giving it a bigger platform similar to whatThe Penguinhad this fall.
It’s possible thatParadise Lostis being eyed to arrive later inthe DC Universe’s Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” slate, withupcoming DC releaseslikeLanternscurrently getting ready to start production in 2025 to premiere in 2026. However, it is also possible that if things don’t move in the right direction forParadise Lostbehind the scenes, the show could get scrapped. DC Studios has made it clear that if a script for a full vision isn’t able to come together, a DC Universe movie or TV show will not go into production.

Our Take On James Gunn’s Paradise Lost Update
Given how Wonder Woman’s last cinematic outing went downhill for Warner Bros. Discovery with the DCEU franchise, it makes sense that DC Studios is taking more time to perfect their new take on the Themysciran heroine for the DC Universe. Whether it is focusing on Wonder Woman in the present day orParadise Lost,it will be exciting to see how Gunn tackles this side of the DC canon in his reboot. But for now, the world will have to wait patiently for more updates onParadise Lost, which will hopefully be sooner rather than later.
