Prime Minister Ogino in a panic

Produced By Production +h.; Directed By Tomoyuki Kurokawa

Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionepisode #14 opened with a reporter running a documentary on Emiko Takashima, a woman staying in a contaminated area for government stipends to support her elderly mother and a group of invaders she had grown attached to. As the reporter followed Emiko in her daily routine,a piece of the alien mothership fell off and destroyed a large part of the city, with Emiko and the reporter ending up trapped under rubble. Emiko tried to reach out to both the police and people on social media, but unfortunately, no one paid attention to her.

At the same time, President Padron of the United States declared that Japan needed to relinquish control of the mothership to them, with American forces already entering Japanese air space in preparation for war. Hikari Sumaru of SES went to meet with the CEO, Takarada, to discuss the matter, only to find that he had been killed by American spies looking to kidnap Sumaru. Before they could, however,Kohiruimaki, having used the invisibility cloak to infiltrate SES, killed the Americans to save Sumaruand told Sumaru to come with him if she wanted to live.

The American spies disguised as tourists

Later, the invaders became further radicalized as their numbers dwindled and announced their intention to let the mothership crash and take humanity out with them. Tsutomu, a recurring invader who didn’t want to fight, still objected to the idea, but at that moment, the government attacked the invaders with drones and a space laser and killed even more of them, including Tsutomu. Tsutomu reunited with his friend, Yuriko, in the afterlife, but back in the world of the living,Kohiruimaki and the Youth United Front arrived at the decimated commune to steal the invaders’ weapons and launch their next assault.

As abrupt as SES being infiltrated by American spies might have been,Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionactually set it up weeks ago.The American spies fromDead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionepisode #14 first appeared in episode #7 as the American tourists Ai met on her date, meaning that a pivotal moment of the endgame had secretly been in the works for weeks. It’s the kind of twist that rewards people for paying attention, and overall, it adds a lot to the story as it slowly approaches its finale.

A dead invader in episode 14

Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionepisode #14 didn’t feature Kadode, Oran, or any of their friends, and it was appropriately dark because of it. With the increasing radicalization of all the major parties, the way the government doesn’t care about protecting anyone other than themselves, and all the violence accompanying that,Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionmasterfully doubles down on its war drama as it heads closer toepisode #0.

Selling that even further, of course, was the social commentary of it all.Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionhas never shied away from its satirization of the Japanese and American governments, and with the increasing selfishness and violent attitudes of both nations,Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructionepisode #14 continues to show how great the social commentary of the story can be. President Padron is even a nigh-perfect parody of Donald Trump down to his voice and mannerisms, and seeing more of that will makeDead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destructiongreat to watch in its final act.
