The release of the latest expansion pack forDiablo 4, a full-length pack namedVessel of Hatred, features a completely overhauled version of the Difficulty System and level caps. This is most noticeable in how different difficulties are approached, and it is a huge shift for the standard aroundDiablo 4.Still, it seems hopeful that this will be more beneficial to players, as many play-testers spoke up about scaling issues

A recent Campfire Chat livestream onYouTubefeatured the development team explaining this new system, their visions behind these difficulty updates forDiablo 4, and how to unlock each new tier. These announcements also announced a new level cap and additional endgame content that is made to expand the uses forhigher power levels. Blizzard has stated that it wants to double down on what makesDiablo 4fun and give players a chance to be rewarded for their additional power and dedication.

Diablo 4’s New Level Cap & Difficulty Options

What A New Max Level Of 60 Means

The new Difficulty System that theDiablo 4development team is planning on implementing over the coming weeks includes additional progression and changes to the character journey and Paragon systems as well. Thenew max level is 60, witha scale of four World Tiers for leveling- Normal, Hard, Expert, and Penitant. Normal is the standard difficulty andothers will be unlocked according to the player’s Pit Tier levels, which expand into endgame levels. These new standard difficulty options are left up to player control, as Blizzard’sDiablo 4development team is prioritizing player enjoyment with progression.

With players able to control their difficulty and reward pacing through the use of Profane Mindcages and the Tormented versions of bosses, players can tackle the four stages of Torment and experience content that extends past the typical endgame. Thenew Torment Difficulties affect players' armor and resistance stats, as the stats decrease in stages of -250 and -25% respectively, the higher the tier they play, maxing out at -1000 Armor and -100% All Resist. These levels are optional, allowing players to engage with the post-level 60 Difficulty Systems at their own pace.

How Season 6’s Changes Have Impacted the Game

A More Challenging Fighting System For Players

Players reactions have been an important part of the development standards for the Blizzard team, and so far, the reception of choosing difficulties and pacing has been positive. The expansion of the content past thestandard endgame contentto include more difficult play-styles and greater rewards allows players who want a tougher challenge to follow through. The release ofVessel of Hatredhas provided a more challenging fighting system, even playing on Normal Difficulty fights seems to take longer.

10 Features Diablo 4 Still Desperately Needs After Vessel Of Hatred

Diablo 4 Vessel of Hatred is now here, but despite the plethora of new content, there’s still plenty of features the game is still missing.

Even though the base difficulty has been changed to provide more of a challenge, even for casual players, the drops and other experience gains are still worthwhile. The encouragement to try different play-styles and to move more to engage in combat has gone over well, as the lack of boosts from the previousDiablo 4season has given players a point to re-approach the new season and tiers of hellish difficulties.
