Dino Crisisfans have waited patiently for Capcom to return to the cult-classic survival-horror franchise and it finally seems like that the developer is ready to unleash the beasts. Following the remakes ofResident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3,andResident Evil 4,players have been hopeful that Capcom will eventually giveDino Crisisthe same treatment. Given how the franchises share a great deal of DNA, it stands to reason that giving Regina and her scaly enemies an upgrade wouldn’t be too far out of the question.

PerGematsuon X (formerly Twitter),Capcom filed a trademark forDino Crisison March 4 in Japan, suggesting that the studio is planning on returning to the series in some form. Aside from the trademark’s existence, nothing else is known about the potential project but this news does come afterDino Crisiswas voted,in an official Capcom poll, as the series fans would most like to see recieve a new game. Whether or not the filing is connected to the poll remains to be seen, but it stands to reason that Capcom would listen to fans' feedback regarding future projects.

Dino Crisis Deserves The Spotlight Again

It Can Step Out Of Resident Evil’s Shadow

Dino Crisishas been making wavesrecently asthe original title and its sequel were re-released for PC on GOG in January 2025. While the games didn’t boast any gameplay improvements, they could be considered remasters as they were adjusted to run smoothly on Windows 10 and 11 and sport some minor upgrades like 4K resolutions and modern controller support. The move was well-recieved among the community as some players believe it was Capcom testing the waters regarding the possibility of a new installment.

Given the success oftheResident Evilremakesand the clear demand forDino Crisis, bringing the series back makes a great deal of sense.Adapting the first game into an over-the-shoulder survival-horror would work, especially when combined with improved enemy AI that would make fighting a pack of raptors even more challenging. The first twoDino Crisisgames can be a pain to play now butthe foundations are still strong25 years later.

Many argue that survival horror video games peaked during the 1990s. Looking at the titles released during that decade, it’s hard to disagree.

Capcom Would Be Smart To Remake Dino Crisis

It Should Be Easy Money!

Given the revival of the survival-horror genre, providing players with an opportunity to revistDino Crisiswith a fresh coat of paint just makes sense. Having recently played the first game,it holds up remarkably well and I can easily imagine it being tweaked to play more likeResident Evil 4. It’s always fun to shoot a raging T-Rex, so hopefully fans can take this recent trademark filing as a sign of something more to come.
