Doctor Who Explains Amy Pond’s Pond Mystery From Season 5
Doctor Who Finally Answered An Old Question
Amy Pond and the Doctor wondered why there were no ducks in the Leadworth duck pond inDoctor Whoseason 5, episode 1, “The Eleventh Hour.“Doctor Whoposted a tease of Ncuti Gatwa’s Christmas Specialfor 2024 in the form of a picture ofThe Timey Wimeynewspaper, an invention of the show’s.The Timey Wimeyfront page article discussed howa scientist infected the Leadworth duck pond with a chemicalthat turned it into a portal to Carnaby Street in 1973, explaining why there were no ducks on it in season 5’s first episode.
Shouldn’t The Cracks In Time Be Closed In Doctor Who Now?
The Doctor, Theoretically, Closed The Cracks In Time
The Timey Wimeynewspaper confirmed that the Leadworth duck pond was a portal to another time, butDoctor Whowas meant to have closed the cracks in time already. This creates a confusing scenario which could be resolved in a number of ways.Doctor Whoseason 5 explored the cracks of time in one of the series' most confusing but rewarding storylines, showing off newDoctor Matt Smith in all his heroic glory. The Doctor could have left some cracks still open, allowing for a lead-in to a Christmas Special or season 15 plot.
Peter Capaldi’s Doctor Who Return Rule Is Disappointing, But I’m Not Buying It
Peter Capaldi is reluctant to return to Doctor Who, but I hope we get to see him suit up again and earn his character the legacy he deserves.
However, the duck pond doesn’t necessarily constitute a crack in time, although the Doctor implied this in “Flesh & Stone.” Although the cracks manifested in various ways in different places, time travel is also possible through other routes, such as the TARDIS. The portal to Carnaby Street via the Leadworth duck pond could easily be considered a road to another time that has nothing to do with the cracks created by the Silence inDoctor Whoseason 5. This would explain why it would still exist after the Doctor closed the cracks.
