What to Know About Dragon Ball DAIMA Before Its Premiere

Information Revealed About DAIMA Prior to Its Release

Dragon Ball DAIMAis set to feature most of fans' favoriteDragon Ballcharacters in some capacity, although the story seems like it will primarily be focusing on Goku and his newest allies as they attempt to unravel a “conspiracy” which has resulted in the cast being turned into “Mini” versions of themselves. It is a canonical installment in the greaterDragon Ballfranchise, although precisely when it is set remains a mystery. Trailers seem to indicate it’s set beforeDragon Ball Super, but afterDragon Ball Z, though this needs to be confirmed.

Goku’s quest to restore everyone to their ordinary forms will take him and the Supreme Kai intothe Demon Realm, a largely unknown corner of theDragon Balluniversewhich the series will be exploring for the first time. Goku will be accompanied by new characters like Glorio, a figure who appears to be from the Demon Realm and fights with a gun, and Panzy, who was first introduced as the “Masked Majin.” Another, more villainous-looking character revealed goes by the name of Gomah.

What to Expect in Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode #1

DAIMA’s First Episode Must Set Up the Series' Mystery

Dragon Ball DAIMAepisode #1’s exact content will remain unknown until the episode actually debuts, but there are some clues in the trailers which give some idea of how it might go. Goku and Vegeta are shown sparring in their adult forms, so it seems like fans will get some time with the characters they’re familiar with before everyone gets turned “Mini.” Almost the entire cast has been shown in Mini form, from Piccolo to Bulma to Goten. Being in Mini form doesn’t seem to have impeded most of their fighting abilities, however, with Goku still shown to be capable of Super Saiyan.

Several scenes are set in familiar locations like the Lookout, so it seems likely that the first episode will be primarily set on Earth, prior to Goku and Supreme Kai heading out into the Demon Realm. It appears that Glorio will be coming to the Lookout with a request to ask of Goku and his friends, which presumably has to do with their predicament. He’s shown arriving in some sort of airborne craft, though from where is a mystery. Gomah is shown in the trailers to be researching, or perhaps spying upon, Goku and his friends, floating in a chamber covered in images of their past.

SinceDragon Ball DAIMAisn’t based on a manga, fans around the world will beexperiencing thisDragon Ballstoryfor the first time together, something that’s never really happened before. It’s an exciting opportunity, especially given the near-simultaneous release it will receive internationally, something thatDragon Ball Superdidn’t have. Though Toriyama may no longer be with us, fans across the globe can at least enjoyDragon Ball DAIMAas his final gift to them, one last hurrah for Goku from Toriyama’s mind.
