Dragon Ball Daima Will Air in an All-New Time Slot in Japan
The Anime Will Be Broadcast Nationwide in Japan
Dragon Ball Daima’s new Friday night time slot is significant in that it will be broadcast nationally in Japan. Fuji TV’s usual Sunday morning anime time slot, which houses shows likeOne Piece,Call of the Night, andUrusei Yatsura, is not broadcast nationwide. It seems Fuji TV has high hopes forDragon Ball’s upcoming series, as expressed by Yuichi Nakajima, who describedDaimaas “a great new work,” that he wishes everyone to experience nationally.
The series aims to provide something for fans both longtime and new, reverting characters into their childhood forms with stylish animation and high-stakes adventure. The October 11 premiere ofDragon Ball Daimawill also coincide with the release of the highly anticipated arena-fighting game,Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

Daima Is Aiming to Tell a New, Yet Familiar Story
Dragon Ball Daimais set to take place after the Majin Buu Saga, but before Beerus arrives on Earth inDragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Similar to the now non-canonDragon Ball GT, the main cast is turned into children due to a wish made with the Dragon Balls, and will have to undergoan excitement-filled quest in order to reverse that wish. The series will also put a strong focus on the Kais, who were resigned to smaller roles inDragon Ballfollowing the introduction of more powerful gods.
Harkening back toDragon Ball’s simpler times, the characters' small statures, as well as the reintroduction of Goku’s power-pole,will put heavier focus on hand-to-hand combat inDragon Ball Daima. How the series' new Friday night time slot will affect the maturity of the subject matter remains to be seen. Regardless, withDaima’s release date having been officially announced,Dragon Ballfans are ready to experience an all-new anime series for the first time sinceDragon Ball Super’s completion in 2018.
