Dragon BallSuperis now in the hands of Toyotaro, and the artist has just reaffirmed his commitment to the series with a stunning piece of art celebrating some ofSuper’s strongest characters–including fan-favorite newcomer, Broly. Interestingly, Broly is depicted with green hair, which has raised some questions among the fanbase.
Dragon Ball Superwas on hiatus following the death of Akira Toriyama last year, and only recently returned witha new one-shot chapter in February, which acted as a prequel to theSuper Heroarc.Dragon Ball Supervolume 24 was also postponed as a result, and is only just now preparing for release in Japan. As such, Toriyama’s protege and successor, Toyotaro, created the cover art for volume 24, and it makes for an epic tribute to the most powerful characters in the franchise, showing off their strongest transformations and looking quite tough in the process.

Dragon Ball Super’s New Artwork Puts Saiyans Front and Center
The New Artwork Highlights Gohan’s Beast Form and Orange Piccolo
The cover for volume 24 ofDragon Ball Superfeatures Goku in Ultra Instinct, Vegeta in Ultra Ego, Beast Gohan, Orange Piccolo, andLegendary Super Saiyan Broly.Of particular note is Broly’s hair, which is distinctly green, much like it was in theDragon Ball Super Brolyfilm when he went Super Saiyan. This is noteworthy because in the colored pages of the manga that recapped the movie, Broly was seen with blonde hair, akin to a regular Super Saiyan, rather than the green that signifies the distinct Legendary Super Saiyan transformation. This led some fans to believe his Legendary form wasn’t canon to the manga, but that isn’t the case.
Overall, the crew looks incredibly tough in this new artwork, and one has to pity anyone who might be up against all five of these characters at once. With Gohan in the dead center of the art, it seems to place some particular importance on him, perhaps suggesting he’ll continue to have a bigger role in the story once it moves past theSuper Heroarc. The Saiyan tussle seen in the last chapter worked on by Toriyama also suggested as much, putting Beast Gohan on the same level as Goku and Vegeta’s godly forms.

Dragon Ball Super’s Full Return May Be Around the Corner
Fans Can’t Wait for Super’s Manga to Resume Serialization
Now that a new chapter ofDragon Ball Superhas been published, even if it was a one-shot, the door is now open for the series to continue telling the story that it was working on before Toriyama’s death. This presumablywill be the Black Frieza arc, as Frieza’s own new transformation was left open when the focus shifted to adaptingSuper Hero. Whether Black Frieza will constituteSuper’s final villain remains to be seen, but many fans are prepared for the next arc to be the last.
While Toyotaro will be working on the manga alone now, there are likely notes and plans that Toriyama left behind which he can consult. One thing’s for sure, though, and that’s thatDragon Ball Super’s new cover art has fans hyped for the story to continue.
