The upcomingDisney+ movieisa followup to the Steve Carell-ledAlexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Dayreleased in 2014, which was adapted from the classic children’s novel of the same name. In addition to Longoria, the multi-generational cast of the road trip comedy includes Cheech Marin, Jessia Garcia, Paulina Chávez, Harvey Guillén, and Thom Nemer as the titular Alexander Garcia.
InDisney’s first-look images originally shared viaPeople,Longoria and the rest of the cast are seen navigating a disastrous road trip. Her character, Val and the rest of the Garcia family are stranded on the side of the road, and she argues with Frank while wearing a shirt that reads “May Contain Wine.” Alexander and Chávez’s character, Mia, seek help from Guillén’s character, Claudio, while Marin’s Gil Garcia sits on a gleaming red motorcycle. The most significant difference is that itshifts the focus to a Latinx family and turns Alexander’s misfortune into a road trip comedy. In this version of the story, Alexander is supposedly cursed, but he is also the only person who can unite his family and help them make their way through their road trip that goes terribly and amusingly wrong.
