Over a year after its release,Disney Lorcanais still going strong and has already announced a few sets for 2025. New trading card games often run the danger of petering out early, but like Disney’s Hercules,Lorcanaseems like it can go the distance. Whether it’s thepopular Disney IPs likeMoanaattached to the game or its accessible gameplay,Lorcanahas been a hit so far with players and collectors alike.

With the release ofAzurite Seain November 2024, there are currently sixLorcanasets. The current gap between sets is about three or four months. While not as breakneck a pace as games like thePokémon Trading Card Game-which this year released eight main series expansion sets and four special expansion sets -Lorcanastill has a healthy amount of new cards to keep players interested. As of now,2025 will be giving players two full new sets and some additional releasesto go along with them.

Archazia’s Island Will Feature Some Of Disney’s Greatest Pets

Archazia’s Island Will Be Lorcana’s Seventh Full Set

The firstLorcanaset announced for 2025 is calledArchazia’s Islandand will be released sometime in March. The set will be emphasizing pets, so this will likely be a time for Disney’s many animal sidekicks to shine. So far it has been shown that Bolt, the star of the Disney movie of the same name, will be one of the featured characters in the set. The lightning bolts around him in his previewed artwork may suggest that his powers are real this time around and not just part of his in-universe TV show.

It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to thinkArchazia’s Islandcould also have some new mechanic in store.

Archazia’s Islandalso has the tagline “learn new tricks.” While this could just be a cute reference to the pets in the set, it could also hint at some new mechanics forLorcana.Into the InklandsandUrsula’s Return, for instance, gave players a new card type (locations) and a new mechanic (sing together) respectively. It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to thinkArchazia’s Islandcould also have something new in store.

Aside from the main set,new accessories forLorcanawill be released alongsideArchazia’s Island. This includes both new card sleeves and deck boxesfeaturing the Enchanted artworkfrom the cardsCinderella - Ballroom SensationfromRise of the FloodbornandUrsula - Deceiver of AllfromInto the Inklands. This means players who are hoping for accessories featuring art from older cards may still be in luck even if their favorite characters still haven’t appeared on any accessories so far.

Archazia’s Island’saccessories will also include two new playmats. One features artwork from the standard version ofTigger - In the Crow’s Nest, the other has the artwork fromWe Could Be Immortals. Both of these cards were released inAzurite Sea. Playmats similarly seem to have a one- or two-set delay between the release of a card and its accompanying accessory, so players looking for accessories featuringArchazia’s Island’s pets will likely have to wait until sometime later in 2025.

The Lilo Gift Box Features Cute New Artwork

The Lilo Gift Box Includes A Storage Box And A New Promo Card

Also set to be released in March 2025 is the Lilo Gift Box. The gift box featuresa new alternate art version ofLilo - Escape ArtistfromAzurite Sea, this time with both Lilo and Stich included. The gift box comes with a foil copy of the card with its new art, and a storage box featuring the same artwork. It’s a nice companion piece to theStitch Collector’s Gift Setreleased in November.

Disney Lorcana’s Azurite Sea Starter Decks are a great starting off point, but one of them easily surpasses the other when it comes to gameplay.

Reign Of Jafar Introduces Lorcana’s Next Major Villain

Reign Of Jafar Will Be Lorcana’s Eigth Full Set

The lastDisney Lorcanaset currently announced for 2025 isReign of Jafar.LikeUrsula’s Returnpreviously,Reign of Jafarwill center around the titular Disney villain as its main antagonist. Previous sets,Shimmering SkiesandAzurite Seahave already teasedJafar as the game’s next big bad, andReign of Jafarwill act as a culmination of those story threads. There may also be a few more hints of what Jafar is up to inArchazia’s Island, though nothing official has been announced yet.Reign of Jafaris expected out in Q2 2025.

Players have already gotten a peek at one card fromLorcana’s eighth set:Iago - Out of Reach. The card, which was originally previewed at D23, depicts Jafar’s sidekick Iago. As its name suggests,Iago - Out of Reachcan be a difficult character to take off the board, since it can’t be targeted while its controller has another exerted character. This is a pretty nice ability on a card that quests for two points.

What Else We Might Expect From Lorcana In 2025

Players Can Probably Expect These Lorcana Products In 2025

While these are the only three products officially announced so far forDisney Lorcanain 2025, looking at previous years’ releases could give some hints at what else players can expect from the upcoming year. One thing that itwouldn’t be surprising to see would be an additional setreleased sometime near the tail end of 2025. This would fit into the current three-four month release schedule of previous sets.

Ursula’s Returnalso introduced the newIllumineer’s Questsets withDeep Trouble, a standalone game usingLorcana’s mechanics and some unique cards.Deep Troubleallows up to two players to cooperatively take on an Ursula-themed deck that plays itself. WithReign of Jafarcoming out in 2025, it wouldn’t be too surprising to seeanIllumineer’s Questset released featuring a Jafar-themed decksimilar to the Ursula one.

Although they haven’t been announced yet, it also wouldn’t be a big surprise ifReign of Jafaralso had new deck boxes, sleeves, and playmats to go with it. It would fitLorcana’scurrent pattern for these accessories to feature card art either fromAzurite Seaor the upcomingArchazia’s Island.

It’s likely that at least some of the accessories will be fromArchazia’s Island, which is probably why they haven’t been previewed yet. Regardless of what else 2025 has in store, theDisney Lorcanasets that have already been announced are enough to get players excited about what’s next.
