However, by the time ofSkeleton Crewepisode 2’s ending, it became clear that there were elements in play that gave the story added doses of mystery, intrigue, and pirate-based fantasy.

The show begins on this planet which, at first, seems like a normal, insignificant suburban planet whereSkeleton Crew’s cast of charactersare living out their unassuming lives. The New Republic May Tie To The High Republic
The first hint that At Attin has more to it than was originally suggested came via Kerry Condon’sSkeleton Crewcharacter: Fara. Fara works for the At Attin government and makes an appearance at the school attended by Wim, Neel, KB, and her daughter Fern. Fara begins to lecture the children about how important their upcoming tests are at school, outlining the cruciality of picking the right career path for the benefit of the students, At Attin itself, andStar Wars’New Republic.

The New Republic Era is a brief period of galactic history, but it’s vitally important to Star Wars. Here are all the key galactic events!
Fara insists that once the children become part of At Attin’s career path, they will be contributing to the planet’s “Great Work,” thus keeping the Republic peaceful and strong. Interestingly, this concept of the “Great Work” links to a part of the franchise’s timeline set centuries beforeSkeleton Crew -Star Wars’High Republic era. In the High Republic, the galaxy was led by Chancellor Lina Soh, who wished to conduct several projects she deemed “Great Works” that would ensure the peace orchestrated by her and the Jedi Order would endure.
This teases that At Attin is a remnant of the High Republic. The planet and its people could be committed to the old way of thinking that began centuries beforeStar Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace.With the High Republic and its elements being integrated further into variousStar Warsmovies and TV shows, making At Attin a world dedicated to this part of the timeline would certainly be a convenient way to do so withSkeleton Crew.
At Attin Is Concealed Behind A “Barrier”
To Further Hide It From A Changing Galaxy
Another intriguing aspect about At Attin supports the idea of it being a High Republic planet: “The Barrier.” The Barrier is referenced multiple times throughoutSkeleton Crewepisodes 1 and 2 as something that surrounds the planet, shielding the view of the wider galaxy. It appears as a swirling green nebula in the sky, dotted with red lights. The Barrier is described as something that At Attin’s citizens are not allowed to cross, meaning no one is allowed to leave the planet.
The Barrier’s visual presence is so strong from the planet’s surface that the children are unsure of what stars are once they leave the planet at the end ofSkeleton Crewepisode 1.
Evidently, though, The Barrier is not the physical barricade its name suggests. The children fly through The Barrier with ease inSkeleton Crewepisode 1’s ending, teasing the true nature of it and how it ties to At Attin’s “Great Work.“The Barrier is seemingly a failsafe, designed to keep those from At Attin on the planetand hide it from the outside.
If the planet is indeed linked to the ways of the High Republic, this Barrier would be a good way of keeping At Attin’s civilization in a form of stasis…
Droids like SM-33 and other navigators cannot simply jump to At Attin, meaning The Barrier acts as a deterrent to keep the planet hidden. If the world is indeed linked to the ways of the High Republic, this Barrier would be a good way of keeping At Attin’s civilization in a form of stasis; the outside galaxy cannot change what happens on the planet, as no one can reach it or leave it, maintaining its High Republic “Great Works” long after the era ceased to exist inStar Wars.
At Attin May Have Been Sought By The Nihil
The High Republic’s Biggest Threat May Be Involved
As alluded to, At Attin’s potential High Republic links are a great way of folding the era into the timeline ofStar Wars’New Republic. Furthermore, it could provideSkeleton Crewwith connections toStar Wars’High Republic villains: the Nihil. The Nihil were essentially an organized horde of pirates from across the Outer Rim, who despised the Republic and the Jedi Order for trying to expand their control to the lesser worlds of the galaxy. As a result, the Nihil pushed back against the prosperity of the Republic, making way for several of the era’s biggest clashes, skirmishes, and deadly events.
Star Wars: Every Major Event Of The High Republic Era
The High Republic Era is full of significant events, both for the Jedi Order and the Republic it sought to protect long before the prequels.
If At Attin is a High Republic world, this could explain the abandoned pirate ship found by Wim, Neel, KB, and Fern. The pirate ship could have belonged to the Nihil.Skeleton Crewdeals heavily with piracy in theStar Warsgalaxy, but the Onyx Cinder and its former crew were stranded on At Attin for some time, evidenced by it being buried and the deterioration of the ship’s interior. The links between At Attin and the High Republic mean it would make sense for the Nihil to have targeted the planet, leading one ship to be stranded there.
At Attin Has Become A Legend In The Star Wars Galaxy
A Lost Treasure Planet
The final reveal concerning At Attin inSkeleton Crewepisodes 1 and 2 brings its mysterious nature to the fore. All of these elements that keep At Attin hidden from the rest of the galaxy have caused it to become somewhat of a legend among the pirates of theStar Warsfranchise. This was shown inSkeleton Crewepisode 2, with the children being met with disbelief and outright laughter upon telling people they were from At Attin.
It was here, onSkeleton Crew’s pirate-infested base of Port Borgo, thatthe children discovered At Attin is known as a fabled lost planet of eternal treasure. The pirates of the galaxy all know the story of At Attin, but whether it truly exists or can be reached is another question. The children themselves are proof that it does exist, but whether it holds the endless wealth that the pirates speak of remains to be seen.
