It’s Time For The Fast Franchise To Return To More Grounded Action
Fast Xgave Mia one standout action sequence, but it definitely feels like recent installments have struggled with exactly how to handle this character.Furious 7(2015) gave Brian and Mia a satisfying sendoff, and every movie since then has had to try and preserve that while also ensuring that Mia still feels involved in the story in some way. As the potentially last movie in the franchise,Fast X: Part 2will surely want to incorporate Brian again for one more goodbye, and this could further complicate just how Mia is utilized in the story.
As far as Brewster’s hopes for the tone and style of action, going back to the franchise’s roots would be a great way to send theFast & Furiousfranchise out. Plus, afterFast X’s budget ballooned to extreme proportionsand made that movie a bit of a box office let-down, street-level action could help to keep costs down. Many questions remain aboutFast X: Part 2, but Brewster is evidently hoping that Mia plays a big role in what’s to come.
