The Fantastic Four’s most formidable villain,Galactus,is by all means an undeniable universal threat, but Marvel is preparing to bring back another world-ending entity with the upcomingThunderbolts*film:the Void. Galactus and the Void are both vastlypowerful antagonists, but the Void’s seemingly infinite powers have yet to be fully defined, making it a truly enigmatic and terror-inducing danger to the Marvel Universe.
First appearing inSentry#1 by Paul Jenkins, Jae Lee, José Villarrubia, Wes Abbott, and Richard Starkings, the Void and the superhero known as the Sentry go hand in hand, as the Void was originally thought to be the dark aspects of Sentry; in truth, it was a mythically ancient force.

The Void, and by proxy the Sentry, wasa being so powerful that the combined forces of the X-Men, the Avengers, and the Fantastic Four were still not enough to subdue him. While the cosmic being Galactus is a formidable danger, the unbridled powers of the Void have proven far more destructive.
Marvel Brings Back the Void, an Annihilating Entity Far More Lethal Than Galactus
Under the Void’s Control, Sentry Has Killed Gods and Warped Reality
Robert Reynolds was an addict who became Sentry after stealing an extreme version of Super Soldier Serum called the Golden Sentry Serum, turning him intothe most powerful hero onEarth. However, an ancient biblical evil dubbed the Void binded with him at that same moment. Years after Robert became Sentry, the Void was unleashed on New York City, massacring millions and taking down some of Marvel’s strongest heroes. It took the combined genius of Reed Richards and Doctor Strange to create a device to stop the Void, but despite their efforts, the Void later returned.
The Sentry tried to fly himself into the sun to stop the Void, but he was in turn able to fully regenerate, exhibiting that the Void is nearly impervious.

Taking on the same abilities as Sentry and more, the Void has been capable of obliterating planets, absorbing cosmic energy from anywhere, and manipulating reality on a molecular level. During Marvel’sSiegeevent,Sentry, who was fully possessed by the Void, easily killed the gods Ares and Loki and completely annihilated Asgardunder the manipulation of Norman Osborn. The Sentry tried to fly himself into the sun to stop the Void, but he was in turn able to fully regenerate, exhibiting that the Void is nearly impervious to any type of physical damage.
The Undefined Limits of the Dark Sentry Make Him One of the Marvel Universe’s Most Chilling Villains
The Void Has Little to No Known Weaknesses
The Sentry has brushed off Marvel’s top heavy-hitters: he hasbroken every bone in Hulk’s bodyand even taken Carnage into space, tearing him to shreds with little effort. Though the Void can be contained, such as within Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum or through the sheer strength of Sentry’s mind, the Void is an entity with mysterious origins and seemingly limitless power. The only being within the Marvel Universe to best the Void is the eldritch god Knull, an entity older than time and the creator of the symbiotes.
Exactly How Powerful Is the Dark Sentry? The Full Power Level of Marvel’s Void Explained
The Sentry is a godlike superhuman, but his dark half the Void is an ancient force so terrifying, it makes the good guy looks like an afterthought.
Galactus is an incredible force of nature, but one major downside to his power is that he requires the consumption of planets to survive - whereas the Void and the Sentry are self-sustaining and hold power comparable to a million exploding suns. As the Void returns in the upcomingThunderbolts*film, it calls to question exactly how the Thunderbolts will defeat such an overwhelmingly strong villain. Regardless of its various iterations, the Void’s raw, undefined power limit makes it one of the Marvel Universe’s most dangerous entities and aligns it with powerful, world-ending beings such asGalactus.
