Navigating through one of the dungeons inDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remakewill have your party face The Chiromancer, a boss you have to beat to clear the area. This is a new enemy added to the remake, meaning both old and new players will not know what they can do. You need to prepare to face this never-before-seen threat, as you can only challenge this boss alone.

As thestory ofDQ3 Remakegoes on, you eventually can unlockGaia’s Navel, a special dungeon where only one person can enter. Youdo not get to bring your party into this dungeon, severely limiting your options. Without any team synergy, it can be difficult to conquer this challenging dungeon, so try to look for items that may help you against The Chiromancer as you explore this location.

Dragon Ques 3 HD-2D Remake Hero protagonist with Mage and Sage class characters in Gaia’s Navel dungeon

You can find Gaia’s Navel dungeon on an islandwest of Aliahanonce you get a ship to travel across the ocean. You will also need toretrieve the Ultimate Key from the Sunken Shrineto access this place.

How To Prepare For The Chiromancer Boss

Choose Who Enters The Dungeon

Youcan choose anyone from your party to enter Gaia’s Navel solo; you don’t have to use the Hero protagonist. This gives you the freedom to pick any character from anyclass Vocation inDQ3 Remake, including the new Monster Wrangler Vocation added in the remake. Some of the best choices for clearing the dungeon and taking on The Chiromancer include:

The Sage and Mage classes have incredibly strong magic, allowing you to inflict a lot of damage per turn with various spells. One of the best strategies against The Chiromancerinvolvesusing someone who knows the spell Fizzle, which can disrupt the boss' patterns. Both spellcasting classes will be capable of using this type of magic, and the Hero if you want to stick with the protagonist’s unique class.

Dragon Quest 3 Remake’s Release Date Is Continuing My Favorite New DQ Trend

With the release date for Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake now being set for November, it’s continuing a recent DQ trend that I absolutely adore.

The Priest has good magic spells too, but this class also has arcane powers to heal themselves throughout a fight. Not only will this type of character help you get through the solo dungeon, but it will be able to endure in a fight against The Chiromancer. A similar last resort pick would be the Warriorclass inDQ3 Remake, whose health and tanky disposition will help them survive, but without the support of any magic.

Items like theAntimagic Staffare great to equip as you travel through Gaia’s Navel, as it can give a+20 Attack Bonus for Mages, Sages, and Priestswho use it. This staff alsoallows you to cast Fizzle, which is an important spell to use when facing The Chiromancer.

Once you’ve chosen whoever is the best fit for this dungeon, equip gear that helps raise defense against magic. The Chiromancer is a powerful mage, whose spells can deal plenty of damage if you’re using a character class with lower HP. Anything that boosts your defenses will also give you the damage reduction needed to survive to the end of the dungeon where The Chiromancer appears.

How To Defeat The Chiromancer

Fizzle Away The Boss' Spirit

The Chiromancer willhave a Madvlad enemy at its sideduring this boss fight, giving you an extra foe to deal with. The gimmick in this fight is thatThe Chiromancer will use the spell Zing to revive the Madvlad if it ever gets killed, submitting you to a war of attrition. However, there is a way to seal The Chiromancer’s magic to prevent them from casting any spellsthroughout the fight.

When you hit The Chiromancer with the Fizzle spell, it can’t cast spellsfor at least a few turns. This prevents the boss from healing themselves or the Madvlad and from dealing any damage to the one character you have in the dungeon. With one cast of magic, you make this fight a lot easier, provided that you have a character who is capable of casting Fizzle.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Review: A New Classic Of An Old Classic

Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake successfully introduces a new generation to one of the best RPGs of all time, along with a host of improvements.

Take your first turn to cast Fizzle on The Chiromancer, then tank whatever damage the Madvlad inflicts. From here, simplydeal enough damage to the Madvlad to take it outandreapply Fizzle to The Chiromancerwhen its effect runs out. It may take a couple of attempts for you to realize how long the Fizzle debuff lasts, but you should be able to time your next one when you figure this out.

Every attack The Chiromancer does, whether it works or not, restores a bit of its health. Don’t forget to go all in on attacking the boss once you’ve disposed of the Madvlad.

If The Chiromancer ever does get a chance to attack, watch out for its Oomph spell that boosts the boss' magic attack damage. The Chiromancer can combine this buff with Swoosh or Frizzle, two elemental magics of Wind and Fire respectfully that deal plenty of damage.

As long as you keep The Chiromancer from casting magic at all, you should have no trouble beating it.This boss is weak to Lightning elemental damage, so attempt to use these to win the fight as fast as you’re able to. Those who can endure and beat the new Chiromancer boss inDragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remakecan claim the Blue Orb and beat Gaia’s Navel, earning great rewards for finishing this solo challenge dungeon.
