Supermanhas returned inDC’s first TV show of 2025, and I couldn’t be happier to see the Man of Steel back in action after the series made the controversial decision of sidelining him. This is going to be a big year for Clark Kent.James Gunn’sSuperman, which stars David Corenswet as the hero, will fly into theaters on July 11. The project is the first movie in the new DC Universe, and Gunn has said thatDC’s plans for future moviesdepend on how well it performs.

Based on what we have seen so far, I’m confident thatSupermanwill be a thrilling movie that does well at the box office. While Corenswet’s debut as the Man of Steel might be the biggest appearance Clark Kent will have in 2025, it will not be the only one. In fact, it is not even Superman’s first appearance of 2025, as another version of the hero showed up in the firstDC TV showof the year. The Elseworlds series finally gave Superman an important rolein its finale after he drew the short end of the stick earlier.

The Animated Series Spotlighted Superman’s City Without Him

Harley Quinnis one of DC’s most interesting projects at the moment. The show survived the major changes at the studio, returning for season 5 on Max.Harley Quinn’s latest season moved away from Gotham City, which had served as the backdrop of the TV-MA animated series so far, to Metropolis, Superman’s city. When I heard of the move, I was excited to see Superman play a recurring role in the show like Batman does. However,by the end ofHarley Quinnseason 5’s premiere, the Man of Steel was already off the show.

Harley Quinn Season 5 Finale Review: Superman Returns In A Climactic Ending That Works As A Great Series Finale If Harley Quinn Is Canceled

Harley Quinn season 5 comes to an end with an ambitious episode that puts a twist on Brainiac, brings back Superman, and could be the show’s final.

Harley and Poison Ivy go to Metropolis in episode 1 to attend the opening of the Superman museum. The premiere was great, allowing us to see different items, costumes, and more from Superman’s comic book history. However, the Man of Steel was feeling depressed, as Metropolis no longer needed him due to advanced drones — controlled by Brainiac, which the world didn’t know at that point — having cleaned up the city of all crime. Harley used her psychiatrist side to help Superman set off on a path of self-discovery, which takes him off-planet up until late inHarley Quinnseason 5.

The Man Of Steel Gets To Save The Day When All Seemed Over

Lena and Lex Luthor used Brainiac’s ship to bottle Metropolis. That leads to Bruce Wayne, the Joker, and Lois Lane trying to find a way to thwart their plans from inside the miniaturized city, while Harley and Ivy try to get to the ship in episode 9. By the end of the episode, Lois decided to use the only card she had left. She reaches out to Superman by using Morse code, hoping the Man of Steel will answer and save them. Heartbreakingly, it seems like Superman is not listening and will not come.

I loved how Superman was used in theHarley Quinnseason 5 finale.

Thankfully, that was only to create some suspense. I loved how Superman was used in theHarley Quinnseason 5 finale. The hero returns at the last possible moment. Harley, her mother, Ivy, Frankette, and everyone in the bottled Metropolis were going to die without oxygen in the cold vacuum of space after their escape pod was destroyed. The moment was emotional, and I was thinking of ways they could escape it. Well, the easiest and most exciting solution was the answer, with Superman finally returning to save the day, taking everyone safely back home.

Clark Kent’s Absence Can Be Explained For A Very Simple Reason

While I wanted to see more of Superman inHarley Quinnseason 5, I understand why the show decided to have the Man of Steel absent for most of the season. If Superman was still in Metropolis,he would have stolen the spotlight from Harley and Ivy. After all, Brainiac and the Luthors were the main villains of season 5. Those are Superman’s classic foes, who were trying to bottle his city for their own goals. Clark Kent would never have allowed that to happen, so the show had to send him away.

By doing that,Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy became Metropolis' first line of defenseagainst those threats. It created huge stakes for the season, as Superman is incredibly powerful, while Ivy does not come close to his level, and Harley is a street-level character. I think the show found a way to send Superman off on a journey that made him feel very human despite his immense power, which I quite liked, as it is similar to the series' approach to Batman. At leastSupermanmanaged to come back for a huge moment in theHarley Quinnseason 5 finale.
