I will be the first to admit that I’ve been skeptical of this series from the moment it was announced. Many modern Batman stories feel like they’re afraid to damage DC’s most prized character by trying new things with him, and my fear was thatAbsolute Batmanwould fall into the same trap. As someone who hasn’t been too invested in Batman’s recent outings, I didn’t see how anything could win me back.

Born to a working-class family, Bruce makes his living as a city engineer.Having a blue collar Batman paints the character in a whole new lightand makes him a much more relatable protagonist. It definitely allows me to see more of myself in Batman than ever before, and I’m sure the average reader would agree.
