I know exactly what I want fromObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2, and it’s not more of Darth Vader. In the first season of theStar Warsseries, Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) is drawn away from protecting young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine to rescue Leia Organa who’d been kidnapped in a plot designed by the Empire’s Third Sister. This conflict eventually reunites Kenobi with Darth Vader, his fallen apprentice who was once Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen). However, more Vader should not be the focus of a potential second season.
Ewan McGregor recently confirmed at L.A. Comic-Con that"ideas are being explored"forObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2. As such, this is one of the first promising signs in quite a while that a second season is being developed, and McGregor also voiced his hopes that Hayden Christensen would return to the series as well. That said,an additional comment made by McGregor has me very excited about what else could be done withObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2 beyond Darth Vader.

Ewan McGregor Wants Obi-Wan In His Clone Wars Armor
So Do Kenobi Fans
At L.A. Comic-Con,McGregor also added that he wants to wear Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Clone Wars-era armorthe character wears in the first few seasons ofThe Clone Warsanimated series. Much like his former apprentice Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan wore chest and shoulder armor along with gantlets and vambraces protecting his arms during the first half of the war.He then transitions to less armor in favor of his more traditional Jedi robesin the seasons precedingRevenge of the Sith.
As such,I would be just as excited as McGregor seems to be about the idea of bringing Obi-Wan’s Clone Wars armor to live-action.It would be very cool to have some sort of extended flashback sequence to the Clone Wars. Likewise, it wouldn’t be the first timeStar Warsshows have explored the Clone Wars in live-action. After all, it’s already been done to an extent, as seen in 2023’sAhsokawith flashbacks featuring Christensen’s Anakin and his own apprentice Ahsoka Tano.

Star Wars Has Cast The Perfect Young Ahsoka
Ariana Greenblatt Was Perfect As A Clone Wars-Era Ahsoka
As seen when Rosario Dawson’s adult Ahsoka found herself in theForce vergence known as the World Between Worlds, the former Jedi had her training completed in 2023’sAhsokaby the spirit of her old master Anakin Skywalker. This included key flashbacks to the Clone Wars such as the Battle of Ryloth and the Siege of Mandalore. Not only did these glimpses into the past show Christensen’s Anakin wearing his own Clone Wars armor for the first time in live-action, but it also featured a young Ahsoka played by Ariana Greenblatt.
New Star Wars Movies: Every Upcoming Movie & Release Date
Here’s every upcoming Star Wars movie in development - including Rey’s New Jedi Order, the Dawn of the Jedi, and The Mandalorian & Grogu!
Ariana Greenblatt was a peakAhsokacasting decision on Lucasfilm’s part. She’s incredibly believable as a Clone Wars-era Ahsoka who’d only even been shown in animation before theAhsokaseries, having been voiced by Ashley Eckstein. I personally found her performance to be incredibly dynamic, and it would be an absolute shame to not see her again in futureStar Warsprojects. To that end, perhaps new Clone Wars sequences inObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2 could be the space to see Greenblatt’s Ahsoka againin the galaxy far, far away.

Ahsoka Proved The De-Aging Can Work Incredibly Well For Hayden Christensen
During The World Between Worlds and Flashback Sequences
Additionally,Ahsokaserved as a prime proving ground for Hayden Christensen and his ability to still play a younger Anakin Skywalker. While he did have the one training sequence with his master in 2022’sObi-Wan Kenobi, 2023’sAhsokaseemed to have perfected the use of CGI and de-aging effects for Christensen. He also looks amazing as Anakin while dueling Ahsoka in The World Between Worlds, motivating his apprentice to reconnect with the Jedi path she’d long been ignoring.
To that end, Anakin Skywalker also looks great during the series' Clone Wars flashbacks. Seen wearing the same style of classic chest armor and vambraces, getting to see a Clone Wars-era Anakin in live-action was incredibly exciting and was executed quite well, as he and his young apprentice led clone troopers into battle. As such,Ahsokaproved that Clone Wars in live-action can work quite well. Now, it’s simply a matter of taking what was done inAhsokaand expanding upon it for a potentialObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2. That way, Ewan McGregor can get in on the epic fun that is playing a version of Obi-Wan Kenobihe’s never played before.

Forget More Darth Vader, I Want Live-Action Clone Wars!
Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka Together
Without a doubt, Darth Vader’s return in the first season ofObi-Wan Kenobiwas very exciting. From Obi-Wan learning that Anakin was still alive to their duel on a barren moon where Obi-Wan reconciled his past guilt and got to see the man beneath Darth Vader’s mask, there’s nothing like seeing live-action Darth Vader in the modern era ofStar Warsstorytelling. However, the ending ofObi-Wan Kenobiseason 1 means it might be hard to bring Vader back for any kind of extended role.
After all,Obi-Wan Kenobiseason 1 ended with Vader’s returning to his fortress on Mustafarand Emperor Palpatine’s veiled threat towards his apprentice should he be unable to overcome his past with his former master. That said, Vader could always disobey his master and continue searching for Kenobi. However, it seems more likely that Kenobi and Vader might not meet again until their final duel aboard the first Death Star as seen inA New Hope.
Lucasfilm has already proven it’s possible withAhsokaand its live-action Clone Wars flashbacks which were incredibly popular with fans…
Either way, I’m far more interested in seeing untold stories fromThe Clone Wars with McGregor’s Obi-Wan, Christensen’s Anakin, and Greenblatt’s Ahsoka fighting altogether in live-action sequences, becoming a dynamic live-action trio their characters are in the animated series. Lucasfilm has already proven it’s possible withAhsokaand itslive-action Clone Wars flashbacks which were incredibly popular with fans. As such, the opportunity to keep a good thing going withObi-Wan Kenobiseason 2 and get McGregor in some Clone Wars armor is right there for the taking.
