Ahead ofSeveranceseason 2, I was very concerned about a major change to the severed floor. Since Harmony Cobel was fired by Lumon Industries at theend ofSeveranceseason 1, this meant she wouldn’t be around as much in the second season of the hit Apple TV+ series. This has proven to be the case, which is disappointing since Patricia Arquette is a terrific actor inSeverance’scast. Even though Harmony Cobel is still inSeveranceseason 2, I honestly have no idea what’s going on with her story.
Meanwhile, Harmony has been replaced by Milchick as manager of the severed floor. Milchick was just as intimidating as Harmony inSeveranceseason 1, if not more so, so this change in leadership makes sense for the series. However, I am actually shocked by howSeveranceseason 2is handling Milchick, as his character is being further explored in multiple ways. In addition to his personal growth, Milchick also has a new assistant inSeveranceseason 2. Now that we’re over halfway throughSeveranceseason 2, I have to sayI’m genuinely so confused by Milchick and Miss Huang’s dynamic.

Milchick & Miss Huang Have Very Confusing Interactions In Severance
When Mark and the others return to work at the beginning ofSeveranceseason 2,it is shocking to learn that Miss Huang, a literal child, is one of their new superiors at Lumon Industries. Lumon is clearly a very strange company, but I think this is definitely one of the weirdest things they’ve ever done, which suggests that there’s something else going on with Miss Huang. Not only does Miss Huang behave like an adult around the severed employees, but she also speaks to Milchick like his peer.
Severance Season 2 Just Debunked A Big Theory About Miss Huang’s Real Identity
Viewers have come up with many gripping theories surrounding Ms. Haung’s characterization, but Severance season 2 might have just debunked one of them
Furthermore, Milchick himself doesn’t seem to question why Miss Huang is his new assistant inSeveranceseason 2. He must know exactly why she was assigned to the severed floor, but the fact that he treats her as just another coworker makes their dynamic so much more interesting. InSeveranceseason 2,Milchick and Miss Huang sometimes work together quite well, whereas other times it seems like they secretly have grudges against each other. This seems similar to how Milchick secretly wanted to sabotage Harmony inSeveranceseason 1.
Milchick Doesn’t Seem To Have Complete Power Over Miss Huang At Lumon
There Seems To Be More Going On With Miss Huang In Severance Season 2
InSeveranceseason 2, episode 5, Milchick and Miss Huang have their most interesting interaction yet when they are planning Irving’s innie’s funeral. While getting supplies for the funeral,Miss Huang expresses that she doesn’t think they should allow Mark, Helly, and Dylan to have a funeral for Irving. Milchick disagrees with Miss Huang, which suggests that they have different philosophies regarding the severed employees and their well-being.
Miss Huang clearly wanted to stress Milchick out by bringing up his performance review, which suggests that she may eventually want to take his job for herself.
Since they end up having the funeral, Milchick is clearly still the one in charge of the severed floor. However,it doesn’t always seem like he has complete control over Miss Huang. In the same episode, I found it very interesting when Miss Huang brought up Milchick’s performance review. In my opinion, Miss Huang clearly wanted to stress Milchick out by bringing up his performance review, which suggests that she may eventually want to take his job for herself. If a child ended up as manager of the severed floor inSeverance, I think I truly would be speechless.

WhileSeveranceseason 2 is answering a lot of questions, it is also setting up several more mysteries. Without a doubt, the Miss Huang mystery has been one of my favorite parts ofSeveranceseason 2. The inclusion of Miss Huang is a perfect example of how the show manages to answer certain questions while also including new elements that create even more confusion. In my opinion,I’m just as interested in learning why Miss Huang is on the severed floor as I am to learn the true purpose of the goats.

Clearly,Severanceseason 1 was already very weird. However, at least it made sense why all the workers were on the severed floor. However,having a mysterious young person thrown into the mix inSeveranceseason 2 is brilliant, since there is no logical reason why she should be on the severed floor. Therefore, Miss Huang has been one of my favorite parts ofSeveranceseason 2, and I can’t wait to see her and Milchick have more interactions with each other.
