Slingshot Is Not Worth Watching

Slingshot Is A Dull Mashup Up Of Other Sci-Fi Movies

Slingshotowes quite a lot of its tone and story to some of the classics of outer space horror and psychological thrillers. Everything fromInterstellartoMoontoEvent Horizonis present in some form or another inSlingshot, butthe movie does not do an effective job of mixing its influences together for an interesting tale. Unlike those films, the buildup to the final third of the movie, which changes the tone and pace ofSlingshot, is a complete slog to get through with a shockingly bored performance by the usually dependable Affleck.

10 Underrated Terrifying Outer Space Horror Movies That Deserve More Respect

Many of the best horror films that take place in outer space have been forgotten about, despite the fact that space is so frightening.

The latter part ofSlingshotcompletely undercuts the first part and would have been a much more interesting film on its own without the buildup. Håfström builds a sterile and unadorned set for the spaceship, perhaps in an attempt to recreate the grungy, low science fiction aesthetic of something likeAlien, but it instead makes for a dull backdrop to the quietly spoken, slow story.Laurence Fishburne does his best to make the movie into something watchable with his intense and hypnotic performance, making a case for it to be turned on late-night as a last resort.
