In a clip posted on X (formerly Twitter), Doherty was carried out through the window of his wrecked McLaren shortly after veering into a guardrail. Onlookers rushed to the vehicle to get him out, breaking the window to drag thestreamerout of the car. His cameraman, Michael, was trapped in the vehicle with cuts to his head, but the pair were otherwise uninjured.

However, an extended cut of the footage told more of the story. Doherty was later accused of leaving out key information regarding the lead-up to the accident.

Doherty distracted, checked phone before crash

Anextended clip shared by @FearedBuckshortly after Doherty posted the video shows the content creator driving his McLaren one-handed while checking his mobile phone. On multiple occasions, Doherty took his eyes off the road — supposedly viewing his livestream’s chat — before speeding up to overtake another driver.

Combined with the wet conditions and the speed of the overtake, Doherty lost control of the McLaren and crashed. It’s here where Doherty’s clip starts, with many accusing the streamer of intentionally cutting out the cause of the crash from his post.

Over 11,000 viewers were tuning in at the time of the accident according toStreams Charts, with many immediately comparing Doherty’s clip to the incident they had witnessed live. “Bro, we all saw you being on the phone while driving, you nearly killed yourself and your friend,“one viewer said on X/Twitter.

Others wereunhappywith Doherty’s immediate concern for his car and not his passenger, who was dazed and bleeding from the impact of the crash. “I’d call him your friend, but the way you totally ignored him and were more worried about the car I don’t know if you consider him a friend or not.”

Both received treatment at a local hospital following the accident. The McLaren, worth over $200,000according to Doherty, was purchased in late 2023 and was totaled due to the crash.

Doherty cops Kick ban for the crash as streamers weigh in on his “stupidity”

Hours after the accident, Doherty’s channel was taken down by Kick. It is believed he received the ban due to “endangerment,” with the channel redirecting to a generic 404 page.

Asubsection of Kick’s community guidelinestitled “Lawfulness” may explain why Doherty’s account was taken down, with streamers on the platform advised to avoid disruptions and be mindful of safety while streaming.

Kick has not yet confirmed whether this is the exact reason for Doherty’s ban. Esports.gg has reached out to Kick but has not received a response at the time this article was published.

Many top streamers were disgusted once watching the full clip. “I’m not a fan of cancel culture but this kid needs to be demonetized from every platform imaginable at [a] bare minimum,“Nadeshot said, adding that he believes Doherty “deserves jail time.”
