John Wick’s Caine spinoff movie, which will star Donnie Yen, receives a positive update from franchise co-creator and director Chad Stahelski.The franchise began life with 2014’s action-revenge sleeper hitJohn Wick, which starred Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin. The film grossed almost $90 million worldwide, and spawned three direct sequels, with the most recent,John Wick: Chapter4, featuring Yen’s Caine, a skilled blind assassin.A Caine spinoffwas officially announced in May of this year.
In an interview withThe Hollywood Reporter, Stahelski opens up about the future of theJohn Wickfranchise and gives an update on the Caine spinoff movie. However, as theending ofJohn Wick: Chapter4brought a natural conclusion to the series, it feels more likely spinoffs will be the way forward. One is already in the works,Ballerina, which is slated for a 2025 release. Additionally, the prequel limited seriesThe Continentalaired on Peacock in 2023. However,the Caine movie can be the first spinoff focused on an established franchise character, and this could see it generate plenty of interest from audiences.

John Wick: Chapter 4was the highest-grossing installment of the franchise, so the appetite for stories in this world seems to be greater than ever.
