Warning: Contains spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen chapter #269.One major point of contention withJujutsu Kaisen’s final arc is the idea that it’s been incredibly rushed. Even with the final arc running for a little over a year, most of that was spent on the lengthy fight against Sukuna, and with only a few chapters left, there isn’t anywhere near enough time to properly close out some of the story’s lingering plot threads.
TheJujutsu Kaisenmanga rushing its final arc has been a criticism ever since it started, and chapter #269 only makes that criticism even worse.Chapter #269 finally addressed the lore surrounding Simple Domain, something people had been questioning since the early days of the series, but thanks to its handling, this big lore drop only served to prove how rushed the final arc has been. A lot of that is symptomatic of some of the larger issues withJujutsu Kaisen.

Jujutsu Kaisen Wasted What Could Have Been A Major Story Arc
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Simple Domain Story Should Have Been Expanded
InJujutsu Kaisenchapter #269, it was revealed that the head of the New Shadow Style, the school that monopolizes Simple Domain, has been restricting its usage with binding vows that absorb a person’s lifespan while simultaneously building up an army to rival the three main families and eventually take over Jujutsu society. More shockingly, it was revealed that Mei Mei had already killed the head of the New Shadow Style and replaced them with Kusakabe sometime before the final battle.
Everything that was revealed about Simple Domain and the New Shadow Style had the perfect makings for a good story arc; the heroes having to deal with a hidden conspiracy could have been used to further develop Jujutsu society, and it would have been an easy and organic way to have characters learn Simple Domain before the final battle. Unfortunately, the entire story was dealt with as quickly as it was introduced.

Jujutsu Kaisen Continues To Be Hurt By Its Pacing Until The Very End
Everything surrounding the lore of Simple Domain is the ultimate end result ofthe negative side ofJujutsu Kaisen’s fast pacing. While this aspect of the series was initially seen as a highlight, over the years,Jujutsu Kaisenbecame heavily criticized for its fast pacing because of how it led to rushed story arcs and minimal character development, and the Simple Domain plotline is one of the most egregious examples of that.
While it’s common for manga to end their stories in a rushed manner due to impending cancellation or to the desire of the author to end a series (usually for health reasons),Jujutsu Kaisennever suffered from these constraints. Its rushed ending is simply an aspect of how fast-paced and compressed the story is, and unfortunately,Jujutsu Kaisen’s final arcprobably suffered as a result of this.
