AsStar Warshas developed, more and more Jedi, specificallyOrder 66 survivors, have entered the picture - even in the original trilogy era. Despite this, many of these Force-sensitive warriors have been given excuses in canon for not appearing along with Luke during the events of the original trilogy, or at least an explanation for why Luke was considered to be the “only” Jedi. Now, however, this may no longer be the case.

Fans have followed a lot of Jedi through the expansive Star Wars universe, but which among them can be considered the strongest?
A retcon fromStar Wars Outlawsthat officiallydates the Great Purge of Mandalore, first mentioned inThe Mandalorian, in 3 ABY - a year in-universe before the Battle of Endor - proves that Luke wasn’t the only Jedi active in rebel forces during the Galactic Civil War. TheAhsokaseries made it clear thatAhsoka Tano was training Sabine Wren as her Padawan when the Great Purge happened, and that it was the biggest reason why the two ultimately went separate ways. The Purge being set during the Galactic Civil War means these two were training during that time as well.
TheAhsokaseries, however, also revealed thatthe Rebel Alliance’sGeneral Hera Syndullawas also in close contact with the master-and-apprentice duo during that time. Based on Hera’s knowledge of the pair’s history, it’s clear that she was in touch with them during the war, even as an active general in the Rebel Alliance’s forces. Knowing this, it seems impossible that Ahsoka and Sabine, both of whom had previously dedicated much of their lives to the rebel cause, would sit out this galactic conflict that ultimately caused theGalactic Empireto fall.

Why Was Luke the Only Active Force-Sensitive in this Conflict?
If Ahsoka and Sabine really were around to help during the Galactic Civil War, then the nature of their role remains in question. Evidently, they weren’t present at any of the major battles seen in the original trilogy - at least, not in the same way Luke was.It could be that Ahsoka and Sabine focused on small conflicts taking place on other worlds, perhaps trying to minimize any damage that the Empire was trying to inflict beyond the front lines of the war. Regardless, it’s clear that these two played a role somehow, even if that role remains unclear.
This is an exciting development, but also a cautious one.Star Warsenthusiasts have always been very protective of the lore, particularly that which George Lucas developed in the original and prequel trilogies, and having more Force-sensitives around during this time could lead to some problems if proper explanations aren’t provided. Seeing that Ahsoka and Sabine wouldn’t go into seclusion when the galaxy needed them most, however, it seems quite certain thatStar Warswill eventually have a proper story about what this duo was up to during that time.
