After watchingIkechi Ojoré’s behavior inMarried at First Sightseason 18, I’m convinced that he doesn’t want the villain edit he’s getting, and will change for his wife,Emem Obot. 41-year-old Ikechi married 34-year-old Emem after meeting her as a stranger at the altar.Married at First Sight season18is taking place in Chicago, Illinois, for the second time in the show’s history, although Ikechi is originally from Houston, Texas. Ikechi applied forMAFSseason 13, which took place in Houston, but he was not selected at that time.
The five couples in season 18 are all still together as they approach the final three weeks of the eight-week-long experiment. The pairs were matched by the show’s panel of experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Cal Roberson, and Dr. Pia Holec. Ikechi and Emem both wanted to date someone from their African American culture, and the experts thought Ikechi and Emem shared the same values and outlooks on life along with a similar professional determination. However, Ikechi has said and done some offensive things towards Emem, but I believe he will turn it around.

Ikechi & Emem’s Marriage Issues Explained
Communication Breakdowns & Insults
The first issue between Emem and Ikechi that I witnessed wasIkechi calling Emem"aggressive"in front of her friends and family, as he didn’t like her directness and penchant for asking pointed questions. I thought Ikechi overstepped in terms of harshness towards Emem when he called her out as being sexually aggressive as well. Emem explained that Ikechi gave her mixed signals in that department. Emem did apologize for making Ikechi uncomfortable, but I noticed Ikechi was still not satisfied.
“I came into this just being who I am, and it was too much for you, and I’m hearing that now,” Emem said.

On their one-month anniversary, I felt Ikechi was out of line when he called Emem an"a*****e.“He took his insults a step further during their one-month anniversary group dinner with the other couples ((viaAccess Hollywood.)
“I have no peace in my home.”

“My wife makes me feel like s**t.”
Before the group dinner meltdown, I also saw Ikechi have a breakdown in his communication with Emem; he went silent on her. I realize that Ikechi felt like he was pushed to the edge by Emem, but I’m certain he went about expressing his feelings the wrong way. Because of this, I’ve seen Ikechi get the villain edit. While I do thinkhis villain edit is deserved, I have noticed that he still wants to try and fix it.

I Think Ikechi Will Make Changes
Ikechi Hasn’t Given Up Yet
Ikechi and Emem had a sit-down with Pastor Cal and Dr. Pia after the anniversary dinner debacle. I believe the experts gave Ikechi and Emem the tools and advice they needed to understand one another better and continue to work at their marriage. I acknowledge that Ikechi told Emem that he wasn’t comfortable moving back in, as they agreed upon with the experts, and that Emem concurred, butI think they are both placing healthy boundaries given the volatility they are experiencing.
Ikechi hasn’t given up yet, and neither has Emem. The pair will receive further counseling from the experts, and I’m certain they are moving in a positive direction since Ikechi expressed he was the one who wanted to lead the way with communication.I know Ikechi really wants the opportunity to be a good husband, and I feel he is making the changes necessary for him to reconnect with Emem, because they did start off on good footing.
Ikechi Doesn’t Want A Villain Edit
Ikechi Wants To Be Seen As A Woke Professional
Ikechi works as a College Counselor, andprides himself on being a professional. He also tries to present himself as a woke individual.
That said, I know his behavior inMarried at First Sightseason 18 has painted him in a terrible light, and he likely realizes that and wants to improve his image.
Getting the villain edit on the show could cause harm to his professional reputation, and being seen as a red flag I know will follow him past the cameras rolling. Ikechi has time in season 18 to change, and I see that he has all the incentive to do so.
