Marvel Rivalsfeatures over 33 Marvel heroes and villains to choose from, and one of the main characters you can play is Loki. The 33 characters are split into three main categories: Strategist, Duelist, and Vanguard, or Healer, DPS, and Tank in more traditional genre terms. Loki, Thor’s brother and eternal rival, finds his place among the Strategists, offering immense amounts of healing and strong damage when utilizing his primary mechanic, illusions.
Loki sits at a 4/5 difficulty rating, likely owing to his required set-up time and illusion skill-ceiling. Don’t let difficulty deter you; with a good understanding of his abilities,Loki is an incredibly fun healer who can perform exceptionally well in any teamthat wants to dominate the battlefield field and help their team to victory.

All Loki Abilities
Trickery and Illusions
Loki’s abilities appear rather simple at first glance. However, the complexity of the character arises from the creative ways in which the abilities interact. While perhaps not as immediately strong as some othercharacters inMarvel Rivals, with practice, Loki can easily carry teams to victory.
Mystical Missile
Loki’s primary fire, Mystical Missile, is a small exploding projectile that both heals allies and damages enemies hit. On its own, it’s a rather weak ability, only dealing 25 damage and healing 40. The strength of this ability lies in tying its use with Loki’s primary mechanic, illusions. When illusions are on the field, they mimic almost all of Loki’s attacks. With a maximum of two illusions on the field at any given time, his primary fire’s damage and healing potential can max out at 75 and 120, respectively.
Reloading during a fight is particularly bad as Loki, as the vast majority of his healing comes from Mystical Missile;reload whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Deception
Loki’s secondary causes him to become invisible and summon an illusion at the ability’s starting point. When Loki is moving in stealth, using any ability will reveal him. Deception can be useful as either an escape tool, waiting out the stealth timer to reposition, or a quick way to generate an illusion if the Doppelganger is out of charge.
Doppelganger
“Doppelganger” is Loki’s primary method for generating illusions. The ability causes Loki to conjure an illusion in a location he can see. While not unlimited, the generous range can stillplace illusions behind enemy front lines on high ground or right next to him. The ability also has two charges, meaning that Loki will often have at least one ready to be used.
Regeneration Domain
The other ability mimicked by Loki’s illusions, “Regeneration Domain,“creates a medium-sized circle of healing around Loki and his illusions. The circle heals allies, which is improved based on the amount of incoming damage. The field lasts for five seconds but can also be destroyed by enemies. A lengthy, 25-second cooldown balances the powerful ability, but when used properly,it can completely nullify enemy engagement and even some ultimates.
Devious Exchange
Loki can use his third ability to swap places with an illusion. Use this to either reposition out of enemy fire or to follow up with engage-centric heroes or tanks. Devious Exchange can be used when not looking at an illusion as welland will instead swap Loki with the closest illusion, which is useful in a pinch.
Backstab
Loki’s melee attack, Backstab, is a standard melee attack that has the benefit of dealing additional damage when hitting enemies from behind.
The damage increase of “Backstab” is insignificant, and the melee range is short. Treat his passive as a bonus to an ability that should really only be used as a last resort.

God of Mischief
Loki’s ultimate morphs him into any visible ally or enemy for 15 seconds. While morphed, Loki has access to every ability of the targeted character, as well as access to their ultimate. UnlikeEcho inOverwatch, whose extremely similar ult gives her a second life,Loki dying while morphed will still kill him; his morphed health bar does not count as extra life.
How To Use Loki’s Ultimate
Using The Hardest, But Most Versatile Ultimate In Marvel Rivals
Loki’s ultimate is trickier than most others in the game. Its strength lies inoffering Loki unmatched versatility depending on the state of the game. It can be used on allies and enemies and completely morphs Loki into the selected character for some time.
Marvel Rivals Battle Pass & Currency Systems Explained
Marvel Rivals has already impressed with its superhero gameplay, but the way it looks to handle microtransactions may be its most heroic feature.
Using it correctly ismore demanding than the somewhat austere nature of most ultimates. Its strength relies on two skills: knowing what characters and their ultimates do and having a good awareness of what your team needs at the moment.

When trying to make a decisive push, look for powerful damage-dealing ultimates, such asMarvel Rivals' Iron Man, Scarlet Witch, or Starlord. If a team is getting heavily damaged, look for useful Strategist ultimates, such as from Mantis or Adam Warlock. Against a more engaged heavy comp, transforming into a tank like Hulk, Venom, or Penni can be effective at peeling for your allies.
While Loki’s ultimate can often lead to its most value in the heat of the moment, its targeting can sometimes be inaccurate.

In hectic team fights, targeting the desired enemy or ally may be difficult. Waiting for an opportune moment is only sometimes the correct choice, considering you may accidentally morph incorrectly. Instead, morphing into an ally before a fight for a specific ultimate ability may prove more useful in general situations.
Best Team Composition For Loki
Loki’s Trickery Can Fit Any Composition
Loki can fit into a wide variety of comps due to the versatile nature of his kit.Loki often facilitates a team’s chosen composition and game planrather than deciding it. For example, playing with a Penni and Namor can create some truly defensible points and chokes, making engaging incredibly difficult for the enemy team.
Marvel Rivals Is Fixing Marvel’s Avengers Biggest Mistake
Marvel Rivals may soon become the best Marvel game on the market, and it’s achieving this by fixing Marvel Avengers’ biggest design flaw.
He can also be played with engage comps, such as Wolverine, Venom, Thor, and Black Panther. In this scenario, Devious repositioning can be used more aggressively to keep up with your team engagement. As his healing is almost all area of effect based, it can be hard to stop an engagement being supported with a Loki from behind or above.

Hela is another standout choice to activate theirteam-up move, Laufeyson Reborn. Whenever Hela kills an enemy, Loki will instantly be revived. While this is a strong effect,Loki also grants Hela a whopping 20% damage boost. With Hela already being a strong duelist, this 20% damage buff, the highest synergy stat bonus in the game, is extremely powerful.
Best Tips, Tricks, & Strategies For Winning
The best skill to improve upon when playing Loki is illusion positioning. I typically spread the clones out to have multiple options for swapping. When fighting against shield tanks, placing both clones behind the enemy frontline, ideally on high ground, can effectively put otherwise nullified pressure on opponents.Always have illusions placed, and ensure obstacles don’t block them. Loki’s strength is hampered when without illusions or when the illusions are hitting walls instead of players.
When Loki is engaged, use Deception to drop an illusion and enter stealth. While in stealth, you can place another clone for an ideal swap or move to give yourself space. In more dire situations, Loki’s Regeneration Domain can be used to all but guarantee you or other backline characters protection. This is especially useful against characters like Wolverine or Iron Fist, who have more limited escape options once they commit.

Loki’s Deception can also be useful in getting out an emergency illusion to buff his healing and damage. While doing this makes Loki more vulnerable, it’s the quickest way to guarantee your illusions hit your target, as they’ll share nearly the same position as him.
For more aggressive plays, saving doppelganger charges is essential, especially when paired with Devious Exchange. Putting a clone next to frontline characters will nullify a healthy beating of damage, while a second clone can either be near your backline or on a high ground angle if a quick disengage or backline healing is required.

Marvel Rivals: Groot Character Guide (Abilities, Ultimate, Tips & Tricks)
Knowing how to use Groot’s character well in Marvel Rivals requires knowing how to use his abilities and ultimate so you can dominate the game.
A tried and true clone character gambit attempts to trick your opponents into attacking the wrong target. The main giveaway for the illusions is movement, as illusions cannot move. When multiple illusions are placed on the field, try standing still. Most players would immediately move upon taking damage, so even tanking one or two shots without moving can trick opponents into attacking different targets.

Using a combination of this trick, stealth, and illusion swapping can make Loki extremely difficult to pin-down.
Beware ofMoon Knight inMarvel Rivals, perhaps the strongest counter to Loki due to his primary fire bouncing between enemies. When fighting against Moon Knight, be mindful of stacking your illusions, as his bounces can quickly drain your illusion’s health and potentially kill your team.

As a strategist, Loki will always benefit from mindful positioning. Keep yourself safe behind cover while waiting for your frontline to engage. Marvel Rivals also doesn’t have a quick way for teammates to signal healing, so be sure to glance around your surroundings often to spot allies needing healing.
With proficient illusion usage, Loki is undoubtedly one of the most fun heroes in Marvel Rivals. While he can be tricky to get started with, his kit has one of the highest skill ceilings in the game, so why not get a headstart in unlocking Loki’s potential inMarvel Rivals.
