Michael Fassbenderis one of the most revered actors of his generation, and yet, the last decade of his career has been plagued with inconsistency. On the one hand, the actor has played roles in award-winning, beloved films such asFrankandThe Killer, both of which had Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes scores. In this era, he also continued to playMagneto in theX-Menseries. This included 2014’s well-reviewed installmentX-Men: Days of Future Past.

On the other hand, however,Fassbender’s careerhas reached some epic lows in the past ten years. The most notorious of Fassbender’s late 2010s work wasThe Snowman, a box office bomb that received a dismal rating of just 7% among critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Even the last five years have crafted a similar tale of Fassbender’s box office insecurity. 2019 saw a rotten score withDark Phoenix, which was recovered byThe Killer, only to see his Rotten Tomatoes score plummet again with Taika Waititi’sNext Goal Wins. Fassbender has another opportunity to recover his reputation this year.
