Henry Cavillhas played his fair share of iconic characters, but unfortunately, he will likely never reprise my favorite role of his. Cavill, a British actor, has starred in over 20 films since his first movie,Vendetta, in 2001. Cavill’s portfolio of iconic roles speaks for itself, ranging from superhero universes to magic worlds. Playing many protagonists throughout his career,Cavill became an action star, his look and physique lending itself well to heroics.

AmongCavill’s many powerful rolesin his career are Superman inMan of Steeland its sequels as well as Geralt inThe Witcher. Cavill has stepped back from both of these roles, but he will always be associated with them to some degree given how successful they were. However, neither of these can compete with my favorite character of his, this time in a rare villainous role. InMission: Impossible,Cavill shows off a different side of his acting skills, which are just as captivating.

Mission: Impossible Fallout’s August Walker Is One Of Cavill’s Best Roles

Cavill Stole The Show In One Of The Best Mission: Impossible Movies

Cavill plays August Walker, the high-ranking Special Activities Division operative at the CIA in theMission: Impossiblefranchise. He works alongside Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and is one of the agency’s best assassins. Cavill leans on his preppy and unsuspecting white-collar look to remain unassuming while undercover as Walker. When he is revealed to be Lark, he maintains this front, trying to gaslight and manipulate Hunt, just as he had been doing all film.Cavill plays a precise and cunning villain, even when not yet revealed to be evil. When he is caught, Walker coolly escapes Hunt again, outsmarting him.

Unfortunately,Cavill will not return as Walker in any otherMission: Impossiblefilms sincehe is killed at the end of the film. Hunt kills him with a hook attached to a helicopter, knocking him off a cliff to his death. If Walker did survive that fall, it would be miraculous, but could ultimately make for an enhanced villain origin story, giving Walker even more criminal motivations. That said, this doesn’t seem to be the direction the franchise is going. It is most likely that Walker will remain dead.

Henry Cavill Should Really Play More Villains After Mission: Impossible

August Walker Remains Cavill’s Only Major Villain Character

Walker is Cavill’s only outright villainous role, and he went all in on the opportunity to play a dark character.Typically, he plays on the side of justice, with one of his most notable roles being the most righteous hero, Superman. With Walker, Cavill proved he can subvert this good guy reputation he has built, evenit’sit’s just for the last act of a film. More roles, includingCavill as a potential James Bond villain, could helpHenry Cavillexplore this character type even more and continue to surprise audiences beyond his most famous roles.
