Despite Deku being the protagonist of the series, Bakugo has consistently been beating Deku in popularity polls for years, andMy Hero Academia’s latest poll only proves he will always be the ultimate fan favorite.

The results ofMy Hero Academia’s global popularity polltitled “World’s Best Hero” are finally in with Katsuki Bakugo taking first place by a landslide compared to Deku. Bakugo was the unanimous overall favorite witha whopping 1.6 million votes, decisively beating Deku by well over 400,000 votes. The global popularity poll marks Bakugo’s ninth victory out of all ten ofMy Hero Academia’s popularity polls so far, proving thatBakugo has and always will be more popular than Deku.

Bakugo Takes First Place in My Hero Academia’s Worldwide Popularity Poll

Bakugo Dominates the Popularity Rankings With 1,647,611 Votes

As part of the celebrations accompanying the manga’s ending, the “World’s Best Hero” poll is easily the biggest, most extensive popularity pollMy Hero Academiahas ever conducted. Fans were allowed to vote for over 278 characters and, as per the latest results, the first stage of the poll received6.12 million votes in all, with 1.31 million of these coming from North America, 740,00 from Asia, and 680,000 votes coming from Europe.

The results of the first stage announcing the top 100 characters were announced in a livestream on Shōnen Jump’s Official YouTube channel and overone-sixth of these votes went to Bakugo Katsuki, who, despite his prickly personality, remains a reigning favorite among fans with an exact total of 1,647,611 votes.

Interestingly, except for the very first popularity poll in 2015 which was won by Deku, Bakugo has won first place in every popularity poll since, with the latest one proving his character isjust as popular internationally as in Japan.

Deku received a total of 1,217,357 votes and is followed by Shoto in third place with 630,398 votes.

Bakugo is still set to compete with Deku and Shoto, who came in second and third place respectively, for the ultimate title of “The MHA” in the second, Plus Ultra stage of the poll. The results of the second stage will be announced on July 24, 2025, after a 24-hour voting period, and could win Bakugo a special illustration by Horikoshi anda commemorative statuealong with the exciting title. Considering the overwhelming amount of votes Bakugo received in the first stage, his victory is all but assured.
