Gentle Criminal’s Incredible Save Earned A Lot Of Love
MHAEpisode #154 Adapted Chapters #375 - #378 of the Manga
Despite facingMy Hero Academia’s deadly and powerful villainswho’ve thoughtlessly ended many lives, Deku’s battle against the Gentle Criminal, aka Danjuro Tobita, stood out among fans for many reasons. Danjuro wasn’t a villain seeking world domination or someone who held a murderous desire to alter society. The Gentle Criminal was an unlucky man who wanted to help people and be recognized for his efforts, much like the main characters of several popular storylines. While his methods led him to break the law, episode #154 finally showed how heroic the previous antagonist had become.
One My Hero Academia Villain Proved Deku’s Philosophy Was Right Long Before Shigaraki
Gentle Criminal’s redemption proves why Deku’s belief in saving Villains rather than condemning them is just what society needs.
Danjuro and his hacking sidekick La Brava were thwarted by Deku when they attempted to break into UA High School during a time of extreme lockdown. However, when many of the prisons holding dangerous quirk-using criminals were liberated by the League of Villains, the facility holding the Gentle Criminal experienced zero escapees because the rehabilitated criminal used his newly established resolve, his Elasticity Quirk, along with his blood and tears to stop the eager murders from leaving the grounds of the jail.

The brave moment drastically improved Gentle’s reputation not only among law enforcement, but also for viewers. It was a stand that earned the former villain the chance to once again make amends for the trouble he caused duringMy Hero Academia’s U.A. School Festival Arc. However, it was merely an appetizer for the emotional showcase the episode concluded with, which led to Danjuro Tobita saving the boy who changed his life and maybe even the world.
The Man Who Once Worked To Dishonor UA, Is Now The One Who Saved It
Gentle Criminal’s Introductory Arc Was Adapted In Episodes #81 - #86
After a dramatic shift in season 7’s battles, Shigarki’s powers returned to him, immediately causing him to trigger a colossal explosion destabilizing the flying UA fortress. As the hulking structure devised to combat theMy Hero Academiaworld’s most dangerous villainclosed in on the ground, the Gentle Criminal appeared under it and revealed how much his powers and allegiances had changed.
Facing certain death if he were to fail, Danjuro shot himself towards the plummeting island when suddenly, a vast power boost engulfed the once timid character. Gentle’s Quirk allows him to make anything he touches elastic, even air, to use it as a shield or to bounce anything it touches. Episode #154 showcased the Quirk on a grander scale because La Brava’s Quirk boosts someone’s strength based on how much she loves them. That boostdrastically improved Gentle’s abilities, allowing him incredible new levels of mobility and even the power to keep UAabovethe ground.

Deku Inspired Villains To Change Their Ways
The Gentle Criminal’s Japanese Voice Actor Is Koichi Yamadera
The Gentle Criminal’s incredible intervention was directed with a level of presentation that ranks among season 7 ofMHA’s best moments. It was the lives of the foes that Deku once helped that ended up proving vital in keeping the Final War Arc’s villains from triumphing, which speaks to the series' finale’s twist ofDeku’s real power that savedMy Hero Academia’sworld from falling into the hands of All For One, and Danjuro Tobita from himself.
