My Hero Academia’s main story may be over, but the world that it introduced is still around and producing strange and powerful new Quirks in the spinoff seriesTeam-Up Missions. It’s a solid sign that fans of the series have plenty left to look forward to, even if the great battle between good and evil has come to an end.

My Hero Academia Team-Up Missionsis a spinoff series by Yoco Akiyama which follows small groups of students from the main series as they go off on “team-up” missions together. They’re often lighthearted and fun, and focus on characters who usually didn’t get too much focus in the main series (although there’s plenty of focus on fan favorites like Deku and Bakugo as well). While it’s difficult to figure out precisely when they would occur between the events of the main series, that’s really a detail that’s not all that important to enjoying the series.

One of the new chapters, released in English at the end of August, reveals some bizarre new Quirks that push the boundaries of what Quirks can do.

My Hero Academia’s Modern Art Quirks Could Have Been Some Of The Series' Most Powerful

Two New Powerful Quirks Could’ve Been Unstoppable in the Wrong Hands

In Chapter 27 ofTeam-Up Missions, part of the recently released 5th volume of the manga, features a strange modern art-inspired town which is being terrorized by a team of villains who believe destruction is the purest for of artistic expression. Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki have been sent in alongside Present Mic to help them deal with these villains, but the team is soon in for a shock when these villains use their Quirks for the first time. One uses a Quirk called “2D-ify,” which turns Bakugo into a 2-dimensional image, while another uses Cubism to turn Deku into an abstract version of himself.

These Quirks are insanely powerfulfor two relatively minor villains, able to completely change someone into unnatural forms that leave them utterly helpless. There’s no indication as to what the limitations of these Quirks could be, or if they could target multiple opponents at once. Their ability to alter people at a fundamental level seems to indicate these are (or are very nearly) reality warping-tier powers. Fortunately for Deku and Bakugo, the effect wore off once the villains were subdued by Todoroki, suggesting some level of concentration is needed.
