TheOne Chicagofranchise will have its first three-way crossover in years. The last timeOne Chicagohad a three-series crossover event forChicago Fire,Chicago P.D., andChicago Medwasmore than five years ago, in October 2019, prior to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Covid-19 restrictions and shortened seasons have made it more difficult to bring a crossover to fruition in recent years. The previousOne Chicagocrossover event, “Infection,” featured a story that revolved around a bacteria outbreak.
As perTVLine,Chicago Fire,Chicago P.D., andChicago Medwill have a crossover event later this season. The plot will reportedly be focused on a large explosion in an office building that creates chaos above and below ground for the entire city of Chicago. There is no air date yet for the crossover featuring the city-wide catastrophe that will challenge Chicago’s best firefighters, police officers, doctors, and nurses as they fight to save as many lives as possible.

What This Means For One Chicago
The TV Universe Is Returning To One Of Its Greatest Strengths
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, crossover episodes in theOne Chicagouniverse were more commonand were always a rewarding culmination of the various Dick Wolf-produced procedural series. The network television universe will once again be living up to the potential of its shared universe asChicago Fire’s charactersinteract withChicago P.D.andChicago Med’s characters. This is especially exciting for the new people who have been added to each respective series since 2019 and who have not yet had a chance to cross paths.

The upcoming crossover alsoprovides more of a reason to tune into all three series in the coming months. While the crossover will undoubtedly be accessible to all viewers, having familiarity with the current storylines andcharacters fromChicago P.D.,Chicago Fire, andChicago Medwill make it particularly satisfying. This was a benefit of when the shows crossed over in the past and is a strength that will now be rekindled in the upcoming explosive story.

Our Take On The One Chicago Crossover
It Will Hopefully Be Less Prescient Than Its Predecessor
One Chicago’s upcoming crossover is one of the franchise’s most exciting developmentsin a while that will be enormously beneficial for all three shows. The previous crossover’s focus on a deadly bacterium outbreak in the city proved to be eerily prescient with the Covid-19 pandemic beginning only months later. The newestOne Chicagocrossover will hopefully be less prescient and just as thrilling and high-stakes as those in the past have proved to be.
